Shen Li transmigrated.
She was also bound to a System, which promised that if she completed her missions, it would bring her back to life.
She had transmigrated into an ongoing male-lead cultivation novel. She had read it and thought it was pretty good. She remembered that the villain was quite charismatic.
As it happened, the mission the System assigned her was exactly this: Host, your main mission is to win over the villain, your side mission is to save the world, and your final mission is to achieve a sweet, doting happy ending.
Shen Li understood.
She would use love to soften a villain, heal his childhood trauma, uncover his tragic past, and show him that there was genuine affection and love in the world. Then the villain would go from a ruthless demon who killed without blinking to a pure-hearted love-struck fool who blushed and got shy. Destroy the world? What grand scheme? What could be sweeter than romance?
Shen Li, familiar with the usual tropes, nodded. "So easy. Just watch me."
And so the System watched as she sometimes ambushed the righteous alongside the villain, stirring up chaos, and sometimes helped the villain torment the male lead, coming up with all sorts of ways to court death. In the end, she betrayed the immortal sect with the villain and had her tendons torn out and bones pulled from her body...
Watching its Host kill with even more abandon than the villain, the System asked, "Do you have any manners? Don't you think you're stealing the show? You're supposed to save the world, not destroy it! Do you even still want to come back to life?"
Shen Li wiped the blood from the long sword she'd just used to hunt down the male lead. "Come back to life? Do you know how I died in the first place?"
System: "A car accident?"
Shen Li: "I killed myself."
P.S.
1. A gloomy, deadpan heroine who reaches for her knife faster than her words and kills like mad x a brooding, obsessive male lead who's one person in public and another in private.
2. A story about two gloomy, unstable people joining hands to destroy the world. Both the male and female leads are obsessive lunatics. It's a healing story where two negatives make a positive.
3. One-on-one romance, happy ending.
