Married Again

Wen Sang is a young Taoist priest at a temple. She grew up there, and her beautiful eyes shine brightly whenever she looks at anyone. Her only flaw is that she hardly ever speaks. Even when pressed, all she can manage is a few stammered words, pitifully and timidly.

The first time Xie Jinyun saw her, the young Taoist was crouched in a corner, holding a bowl of rice and eating with gusto.

The next time Xie Jinyun saw her, the world had just descended into chaos. This time, she was a disciple of Jinyun Temple, learning to beg for alms like those destitute monks, holding a dirty gourd.

Xie Jinyun didn't want anything to do with a religious practitioner, so he had his attendant give her two buns and two taels of silver, then left.

The third time he saw her, he had just led five thousand troops in capturing a city. That night, as the army celebrated their victory, a woman was sent to his side.

Her hair was black as a crow's, her skin whiter than snow, and her gaze innocent and bewildered.

"This concubine has been ordered to attend to you, my lord."

Xie Jinyun looked at her for a while. The refusal on his lips suddenly halted, and he said instead, "All right."

He recognized her.

The young Taoist from Jinyun Temple all those years ago.

From then on, though he had never brought women on campaign, another person would lie beside him at night.

But later, she suddenly remembered everything.

She remembered those two years in the chaos of war.

She told him she had been married before.
