In the silent depths of the night, the mist and rain had dispersed.

The doorbell woke Meng Jia. She got up and threw on a robe. “Mr. Zhong?”

Dew from the night clung to Zhong Shushi as he asked, “Won't you invite me in to sit for a while?”

In her panic, Meng Jia made up an excuse. “It's not convenient. My boyfriend is inside. He might see you.”

Zhong Shushi stood at the doorway, looking relaxed and carefree. He gave a perfunctory smile and casually drew her into his arms. “Perfect. He probably hasn't seen us kiss yet.”
