[The Cold-Hearted Young Master of the Capital × The Gentle, Resilient Cinderella]
The relationship between Jiang Wanyu and Lu Jin'an was the purest and most sordid kind.
It was pure because they were each other's first, and sordid because they could only take the relationship so far.
When it ended, they agreed: go their separate ways and leave each other in peace.
Someone once asked Lu Jin'an if he'd ever had feelings for Jiang Wanyu.
He resented how decisively she'd left. His expression cool and indifferent, he replied, "It was just playing a part. We were only having fun."
Those words spread through their circle and reached Jiang Wanyu's ears.
She smiled and let them pass, her cool gaze resting on her slightly rounded belly, her heart bleak and desolate.
Later, Lu Jin'an was hospitalized and happened to run into Jiang Wanyu.
They met unexpectedly. Her pale face managed a smile more painful to see than tears.
His heart ached unbearably, but he turned away and pretended she was a stranger.
When spring came, they met again. She was so thin she was nearly unrecognizable, yet she still greeted him with a smile.
He thought there was no woman in the world better at pretending than she was. Indifferently, he rolled up the car window, floored the accelerator, and drove off in a cloud of dust.
Three years later, Lu Jin'an flew south overnight and finally found the respected Teacher Jiang in a remote, impoverished town.
He gripped her wrist and refused to let go. His dark eyes dim, the corners of them glistening, he asked in a hoarse voice, "Where's the child?"
She could no longer smile. Her lashes trembled faintly, and only after a long pause did she speak. "Lu Jin'an, I don't owe you anything."
After struggling to free herself, Jiang Wanyu turned and walked away.
He chased after her and held her tightly from behind. "But I owe you so much."
His ragged breath fell against the nape of her neck. Then two warm tears dropped.
She had no strength to break free, and stared numbly at the ground.
Then she closed her eyes and spoke very softly. "It's all right. You don't have to repay me."
When the music ended and everyone went their separate ways, she took nothing with her, yet he felt he had lost everything.

Theme: Everyone is equal in love
I have always wanted to see the regret of the male protagonist when the female protagonist faked her marriage and gave birth to a child. He should have properly married the heroine and had children, so that she would not have had the idea of marrying another person and having children.
