Come join the fun! w] Synopsis Artificial human Hanagami Tetsuya is framed by the System the very first second he steps out of the lab. The only way to get rid of it is to complete the mission: "Become a top-tier background character in sports anime." Hanagami Tetsuya, whose past experience has taught him that he must shine and that failure means death, thinks over the mission: "Why a background character?" The System answers bleakly, "Because we're stowaways who never reached an agreement with the world's consciousness." "Hmm... Then why top-tier?" The System slaps the table. "Why not ask these worlds? Sports anime shouldn't be so realistic. Their virtual competitive sports are still a source of regret, and the audience is furious. Only a top-tier performance can make up for it." Hanagami Tetsuya tilts his head, troubled. "I'm not very good at that..." Afraid Hanagami Tetsuya might change his mind, the System cuts him off. "Don't worry. The standards are top-tier, but I've got a margin-for-error system. I'll cover for you!" And so the mission channel opens, leaving legends across countless worlds. Years later, the retired System, having completed every mission to 100%, slowly asks: What was it you didn't finish saying that day? Hanagami Tetsuya: I'm a background character, but I'm doing my very best! The System stares at the soaring popularity stats in its backend, questioning its whole existence: So this is what you meant when you said you weren't good at it?! The sports anime worlds include swimming, basketball, volleyball, and running. Each is a separate world, in this order: swimming, basketball, volleyball, running. Some plot-related elements are original additions. If this isn't your thing, please click the X. Kindly refrain from giving writing advice. Please note: 1. I won't take away any original characters' highlights or plot points. For example, the protagonist won't compete in swimming events in the swimming world, but will compete in swimming events in the basketball world. (This won't be the case in every world.) Some worlds have extremely bizarre changes to their competition rules, such as the running world. 2. The System has a lot of screen time. Upcoming Novel Synopsis After repeatedly derailing the main plots of eighteen worlds with his excessively convincing acting, Shang Yunxing, a big shot brought out of retirement by the Plot Department, is urgently dumped by the Main System into the newly awakened Cannon Fodder Fate-Changing Department. The one assigned to handle this difficult big shot is Cannon Fodder Fate-Changing System 111. Word has it that the department had once been shut down. Now that it's been reactivated, only the first two characters of its name remain, leaving it with nothing but a cannon fodder's fate. 111 trembles with anxiety. "I'll do my best to keep you from becoming cannon fodder, sir!" Shang Yunxing gives it a sidelong glance. "Cannon fodder?" Then let's see who ends up being cannon fodder. In a sci-fi world, Shang Yunxing transmigrates into the role of a saintly, falsely accused cannon fodder who serves as a tool and is sent to prison. 111: "Sir! I've prepared all kinds of S-rank items for you! The protective shield that costs 99,999 in the shop is on sale for just 9.9. Would you like to stock up on a thousand of them first...?" Shang Yunxing: "No need. I'll split into two right here." Driven to the brink by the betrayal of friends and family, the saintly man develops a second personality. Calling his original personality "Big Brother" with tender affection, the second personality stands on top of prisoners who may be alive or dead. Half his face is splattered with blood, and a sickly, saccharine smile twists his features. "Who dares lay another finger on my brother?" The naive System 111: ? In a fictional world, Shang Yunxing transmigrates into the sole survivor who returns to the scene just after a home-invasion murder has taken place. Shang Yunxing: "It's fine. I'll go blind right here." The timid System 111: ?? In a modern world, Shang Yunxing transmigrates into a foolish, pretty face who is callously cast aside in a melodramatic script. Shang Yunxing: "Easy. I'll lose my memory right here." The innocent System 111: ??? Watching the completion rate reach 100%, 111 finally understands: the big shot's world is just this simple, and utterly extraordinary. A consummate actor who loves treating life like a performance, top, and a love-struck, terminally devoted evil god, bottom, who believes everything their beloved says. Theme: Even without taking first place, you're still your own champion.
