Burying Immortals in the Heavens

[The blurb has been revised. The kitten story is on hold for now, so here's the new one.]

Cultivation, senior and junior disciples, older top, gentle, sweet and naive top x violent, sharp-tongued bottom, happy ending

Yu Jiang never imagined that Shi Huiyi would fall for him. Wasn't the guy supposed to be an idiot or something???

Shi Huiyi always thought his junior brother liked him best. When he learns that he's actually hated, he's completely dumbfounded.

Yu Jiang: If you keep liking me, I'll go kill myself. Got it?

Shi Huiyi: ...

Yu Jiang: You have one minute to swear you'll cultivate the Heartless Dao.

Shi Huiyi: ...

Yu Jiang: Crying counts as time, too.

Shi Huiyi: ...

Yu Jiang: Hey, are you seriously crying???

Yu Jiang's thoughts: I never imagined that the reason I'd start dating someone would be because I'd feel guilty about bullying an idiot.

Bystander: So were you two brutally bullying each other every day before this?

Yu Jiang: What do you know? We were doing it for the good of the world!

The world: Okay.

One smile, and we meet again on Penglai's road; worldly love and beauty are dust.

[A writing practice piece. I'll write it slowly. I'm revising another story too, and that one takes priority. Thank you, everyone.]

P.S. A few readers asked about this in the comments, so here's a clarification. The title of this story comes from Li He's "Drum at the Official Street": "How many times have immortals been buried in the heavens? The water clock's beat goes on without end." I've always loved Li He. Ever since I wrote The Usurping Minister ten years ago, many of my later stories have quoted or adapted his poetry. The title of this new story happens to be the same as a poem by another very talented poet. After I found out, I looked into it, and it really does seem like quite a coincidence. I didn't quote it, and I meant no disrespect. To avoid any unnecessary misunderstanding, I wanted to explain.

Theme: The heavens move with vigor, so the noble person strives without cease.
