The Little Taotie Goes Viral by Playing Big Brother in Reverse on a Kids' Variety Show

Little Taotie A Nian gets into a group brawl with the ferocious beasts next door and falls into one of the famous giant pits in the Classic of Mountains and Seas... only to become part of the cannon-fodder sibling duo in a family-oriented variety show.

In the original story, Ji Nian and Ji Nan suffer from severe social anxiety, do all the dirty and exhausting work, come in dead last in popularity and tasks, and serve as punching bags for the other guests. They stand in stark contrast to the popular female lead and her brother. Once the show airs, Ji Nian and her brother are mocked across the internet and forced to quit. Their mother, who was counting on their appearance fees to save her, dies. Unable to bear the double blow, Ji Nan falls into depression and takes his own life.

At just three years old, Ji Nian becomes an orphan... and one bitter winter, she starves to death in a corner of an orphanage.

A Nian: Aaaah!!! I'm so mad!

So she won't have to be so mad... the little Taotie joins the variety show!

On the show, the director asks each sibling pair to introduce themselves to the camera. The female lead and her brother introduce themselves properly.

Ji Nian waves at the camera and says in her babyish voice, “Hi, everyone! My name is Ji Nian... Ji as in ‘keep a grudge,’ and Nian as in ‘hold a grudge’!”

[Wow! Where did this soft, fluffy little dumpling come from? She's got a double grudge-holding buff built in. Other guests, don't you dare bully her!]

The viewers all rally behind little A Nian!

It's harvest season, and everyone's gathering wheat.

The guests use Ji Nan as a punching bag and deliberately hide the farm tools, making him cut the wheat with his bare hands. Sharp-eyed little A Nian finds the tools... and casually hurls a sickle, which whizzes past a guest's throat!

A Nian herself has already turned around with effortless flair and harvested ten acres of wheat with her bare hands (reference pose: little bunny pulling up a radish.jpg).

The guests' pupils shake: !

The guests are supposed to negotiate with the villagers to get lunch.

The female lead and her brother put their universally adored nature to good use, acting lively and cute and trying their very best!

A Nian helps the villagers slaughter chickens, catch fish, and stew meat, then stands on a little stool to prepare a whole table of delicious dishes... In exchange, the villagers warmly invite Ji Nian and her brother to lunch, and send them off with a basket of eggs.

The female lead silently swallows: Wow...

As soon as the show airs, the Ji siblings earn enough money to help their mother pay for treatment.

Later... how does A Nian end up becoming the youngest tycoon while the show is still airing?!

[Aaaah! How is this a soft little dumpling? She's a big shot!]

[Boss A Nian! Besides your big brother, do you need another hanger-on to cling to?]

[I'm different. I'll take another route! Little A Nian, do you need a sister-in-law?]

The viewers do everything they can to get close to this amazing little dumpling...

Ji Nan: ?
