My Poor Husband (Matriarchal Society)

[The blurb has been screenshotted]

Ning Xiwei's family fell into decline. The Song family, to whom she had once been betrothed, treated her harshly and even had an unloved concubine-born son take the place of the original groom.

This husband was skilled at everything from laundry to cooking. The two of them depended on each other through the hardest days.

Beneath the hazy moonlight, Ning Xiwei held Song Zhibai's hand and promised she would never let him down in this life.

When the palace examinations ended, Ning Xiwei, whom no one had believed in, took first place. The Song family's expressions were especially priceless.

Those who had once looked down on Ning Xiwei now came courting her. Song Zhibai watched as people approached her, openly and covertly, to propose marriage. He wanted to drive them all away, but was powerless to do so.

One day, Ning Xiwei was stopped by a fellow student after court and did not return to the residence until nightfall.

In the dark, Song Zhibai's expression was hard to make out as he caught the scent of rouge on Ning Xiwei.

"Wife..."

Ning Xiwei was confused, but still took out the gift she had brought him: the rouge Song Zhibai had wanted for a long time. "It will look lovely on you."

"It's late. Let me help you inside."

Song Zhibai clasped Ning Xiwei's arm as if holding on to her herself.

His wife belonged to him. No one could take her away.
