Yi Qingtian was born into a distinguished family and grew up in a happy home. At school, she was an unattainable top student in everyone's eyes; at work, she became an industry-renowned powerhouse. She was destined for a life of smooth sailing, always in her element.
Zhou Yi had been following his "dad," twelve years old at the time, out hustling since Zhou Yi was six. They had no proper clothes and not enough to eat. His background was tragic, his fate full of hardship, and all his desperate effort went toward staying alive.
He gazed up at the moon in the sky, but the moon was beyond his reach.
One-sided yearning, mutual affection.
Little scene
After they got together, Yi Qingtian came over to help Zhou Yi move.
A big blue-and-white striped bundle rolled out of the cupboard.
The powerful woman had never seen such a plain, practical way of packing, so she asked, "What's this?"
"My things from when I was little."
Yi Qingtian was intrigued. "What were you like as a child?"
Zhou Yi shook his head. "I don't remember."
Yi Qingtian wouldn't let it go. "Do you have any photos?"
Zhou Yi thought for a moment, then opened the bundle and rummaged all the way to the bottom, where he found a photo from his time at the welfare home.
It was a huge group photo, packed with people. Yi Qingtian looked for ages but couldn't spot her well-behaved cat.
"Which one is you?"
Zhou Yi stopped packing, walked over, and pointed at a big tree.
"I'm behind the tree."
Children who have no choice but to live in a welfare home are unfortunate.
And Zhou Yi didn't even qualify to live in one.
People reach for the moon but cannot have it; the moon, as it travels, follows alongside them. (From Li Bai's Drinking Alone with the Moon)
