P.S. The protagonist is original. Cthulhu Mythos creatures appear, and no non-original characters die besides the protagonist.
Here is the blurb:
You are Mori Ogai, an excellent medical student who also works part-time as an intern at a third-rate ghost-busting agency, where you organize files.
But as a staunch materialist, aside from reading excerpts from the Necronomicon, you have never encountered anything supernatural. You are adamant that the theory of human devolution is biological nonsense, and have even published a paper on the subject.
Then one day, while on a study trip to a nearby island nation with a friend, your train derails. By chance, you visit Dreamlands. In other words, you transmigrate.
This isn't funny, because in the parallel world, you are the leader of a gang of men in suits. In short, you're the godfather.
So, to avoid ending up homeless, a few young scholars evade pursuit by the Port Mafia, turn down an invitation in Idhaqua's will, deceive a detective who has sensed the occult, and suppress escaped Foundation anomalies and the brain-eating parasites flooding the black market...
Later, they begin to take a closer look at the fragments of history buried in the long river of time, trying to trace the cause of the accident. They intend to put everything that has awakened back to sleep, bring everything lost back to life, and spread foolishness to every corner of the world before intelligence infects the human mind.
Only after becoming seasoned investigators do they truly come into contact with the truth behind the cases involving indescribable creatures.
Mori Ogai: Thanks for asking. For the first time, the ghosts in Chinese horror games seem so lovely and refined.
*
KP: All right, coming straight toward you are several armed members of the Port Mafia. The investigators are hiding behind the wrecked train. What do you do?
Mori: The only weapons we have are the scalpels in our medical kits. Against enemies armed with guns, I say we retreat.
M: My Persuasion is maxed out. Nobody understands CoC better than me.
KP: ... Two critical failures. The investigators have been spotted, and M's words have provoked the enemy. You have no choice but to fight head-on.
H: Combat is awesome.

The poor investigators are stranded in a foreign land. The only legitimate work they can find is taking over a detective agency that's on the verge of closing, even though the fees from walk-in clients barely cover their basic daily expenses.
Client: The leader of Yokohama's Port Mafia has fallen so low that he's investigating what looks like an obviously fake paranormal incident? How strange.
Mori: H, take him out.
*
Daily question: Did Mori Ogai expose himself today?
M: Probably not... right?

P.S. This story incorporates a tabletop role-playing system I've been enjoying lately.
The protagonist really is only interested in making money, and he really doesn't know much about Bungo Stray Dogs. He prefers to avoid the original plot whenever possible, so it doesn't feature much.
Theme: No one stays dead forever, unless they're dead
The writing looks great in big letters. Can you write a little more? (The pit is so shallow, I shed tears. Jpg)
Teacher, it looks good. Please write more.
H: I'm super, box!!
