Shen Xian is that “straight mole” hiding in plain sight. The rules are simple. If the straight man survives seven rounds of voting without being eliminated, he wins two million. If the gay contestants identify him, they split the prize money among the contestants still in the game, and the straight man gets nothing. Shen Xian thinks, “It’s just pretending to be gay, right? For two million, I’m in!” He asks his friend about the characteristics of gay men and memorizes them. From then on, he becomes meticulous about cleanliness, keeping his room and himself spotless; he pays attention to his appearance, works out, and dresses well; he’s observant enough to notice little things others miss; and he can lift weights and box as easily as he can cook up delicious meals... Fully prepared and brimming with confidence, Shen Xian dives in and perfectly slips into the role of a gay man. But who can tell him that pretending to be gay comes with the risk of ending up in a love triangle? No matter how things change on the show, the icy CEO remains rock-steady. His handsome, sun-kissed face turns faintly red. He clears his throat and tactfully asks Shen Xian which role he prefers in bed. Alarms blare in Shen Xian’s head. He’s here to pretend to be gay and make money, not to become gay! So he tactfully says they’re both tops. Like repels like. Xing Zhenhong looks solemn. Shen Xian relaxes.
