Chi Yu had had a crush on Shen Que for ten years. He watched Shen Que cycle through countless people, spending years playing the field and always managing to walk away unscathed.

He thought that after becoming Mrs. Shen, Shen Que would at least show him some favoritism.

That was until, after countless nights of being sent to sleep in the study, he heard his husband in the eyes of the law having fun with someone else in their bedroom. Looking at the diamond ring on his hand, Chi Yu could only feel that his youth had been a joke.

The night he decided to divorce Shen Que, Chi Yu went alone to a bar and drank himself into a stupor.

Shen Que never expected to run into his ex-husband at the birthday party of one of his high school teachers after their divorce.

Chi Yu was dressed in a custom-tailored suit, looking confident and spirited. The insecurity and timidity that had once shown in his eyes were gone.

What Shen Que found especially jarring were the fading kiss marks on Chi Yu's fair neck, and Fu Huaichuan's hand resting on his waist as if making a declaration of war.

For the first time in his life, Shen Que felt an intense pang of regret over someone he'd abandoned.

After the party, Shen Que arranged to meet Fu Huaichuan alone and waited at the agreed-upon spot, smoking in silence.

Five minutes later, a long, slender finger wearing a diamond ring gently tapped the glass table in front of Shen Que.

"Shen Que, please put out your cigarette while you're talking to me."

"My Chi doesn't like the smell of smoke."

Chi Yu had always believed that nobody would ever love him above everyone else.
