How to Win Over the Foxy Setter on a Certain Volleyball Team

▎Next novel: "How to Win Over Inarizaki's Suna Rintaro," pairing with Suna ▎My profile has a completed, fluffy volleyball everyday-life story, "When a Volleyball Fool Falls into Love's Trap," pairing with Kenma. At 960,000 words, the whole series is available to binge~ ▎Blurb: Shiraki Yusei suffered severe psychological abuse and social isolation throughout all three years of middle school. To get away from the shadows left by those experiences, he chooses to attend Inarizaki, far away in Kansai. But even he is discovered by the foxes, who are best at spotting hidden talent. When he first joins the team, he is practically covered in debuffs: timid, slow to react, easily frightened, too afraid to speak loudly, and prone to looking over with teary, pitiful eyes at the slightest thing. But after a little training and affection from the foxes, he becomes like a precious jade stone, polished and carefully carved. On the court, his outstanding natural physical gifts, keen instincts, and incredible reach make him exceptional. And... he's strong. So strong that his brutal spikes are almost impossible to stop. He's also known as "the libero's nightmare" and "the first-touch killer." After the match, the opposing players quietly look toward Inarizaki. The terrifying tyrant of the court starts crying the moment he comes off it, then runs to the golden-haired setter on the other side for comfort. Shiraki Yusei: "I'm sorry, Atsumu-senpai, I'm so sorry, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hit that ball off course. I couldn't get the trajectory right and only managed to score one point. I won't do it again, I promise. Please set the ball for me again, senpai. I definitely won't make that mistake again..." Atsumu: "Are you an idiot, Yusei?" The blond setter drawls lazily, his voice tinged with helplessness. Then, he curls his lips into a smile and bares his teeth at the amused opponents across the net. "I've told you, you've got a genius setter like me." "All you have to do is keep spiking." After the match, according to an incomplete report from a certain war correspondent, shadows overlap in a blind spot in the locker room. The arctic hare clutches someone's clothes, a hint of anticipation in his cautious voice as he asks, "W-We won the match. Atsumu-senpai, will you give me a reward?" A low male voice answers, carrying an unexpected hint of amusement. "So... do you want another kiss, Yusei?" "Y-Yes!" "Because I like you so much, senpai..." "Mwah." "Good boy." --Bzzzt-- (static) (static) --Bzzzt-- The broadcast above has been deliberately cut off by a certain stingy golden-haired fox. ▎Pairing: Miya Atsumu A story about a childish golden-haired fox who gradually matures, lovingly tending to his timid little bunny and slowly drawing him into his web before devouring him*. ▎The main story has a slow pace and a healing, everyone-loves-him feel. This time, it's about a genuinely shy, introverted, fragile, but stunningly talented arctic hare. ▎Before You Read: 1. OOC and headcanons abound. The romance is the focus, matches are a small part of the story, and the everyday-life plot can be slow and rambling. It's a light, brain-off read. 2. The author is not a professional volleyball player. All my volleyball knowledge comes from Haikyu!!, so anyone looking for strict accuracy should stay away. 3. The cover is used with permission from artist Huagou. That's all. Comments on individual chapters are open. 80% of the novel is locked against piracy. After the story is complete, bonus chapters will be given out in stages~ Premise set on 2024.1.24; blurb finalized on 2024.5.30 and screenshot saved. ▎Another upcoming Inarizaki-centered volleyball novel on my profile: "Rintaro, You Wouldn't Want To..." Pairing with Suna A sharp-tongued, easygoing guy who's slow on the uptake but genuinely gorgeous x a cold, seductive guy with overwhelming sexual tension and a famously flexible waist ▎Upcoming Novel Blurb: My name is Kitsukawa Tsujito. I'm a male model, and I'm thirty years old. I was reborn. I went back fifteen years, to when I was about to get married to someone my family had set me up with. That summer, right after middle school. My arranged match was a professional volleyball player. He was cold to everyone and not particularly warm toward me, either. But after meeting me once, he quickly asked me out more than ten times, and after just a month together, he told my parents he wanted us to get our marriage license. I suspect he was just like me, at an age when his family was hounding him, so he wanted to find someone and settle down already. But luckily, I didn't mind. After all, I'm a sucker for a handsome face. Still, his friends told me my arranged match had been secretly in love with someone for a long time. I don't mind if he's in love with someone else. After all, we were only getting married through an arrangement. I don't mind at all. Then, after insisting I didn't mind, I was sent back fifteen years by a sudden car accident. I worked hard for fifteen years, only to wake up back at square one. With nothing in my hands, I had nothing... Wait. Why is my arranged match here? Did we meet this early? And why does he keep looking at me? In the winter of their graduation year, the Miya twins tease Suna, whose crush is right under his nose but still out of reach. They even promise that if he ever needs help, they'll gladly lend a hand and make sure not to cause any trouble. A year later, the Miya twins stare, stunned, at the man showing off his ring to them. In just one year, the couple has gone from dating to engaged. The twins are devastated and can't accept it, but everyone else looks as if this was inevitable. "He didn't want to make it public, so we never said anything." Suna wraps an arm around his adult lover and keeps him close. His face shows no emotion as he calmly says, "Actually, we'd been together since our second year of high school." "After all, ours was love at first sight, a pure romance." Theme: Reject social isolation at school and grow up in a healthy environment.
