About to Part

The day the imperial mausoleum came to light again, a long-buried story of a kingdom was also uncovered.

Jiang Li, the last princess of the Kingdom of Jiang when its capital fell, was born as pear blossoms bloomed in the cold palace. No one knew her or even recognized her. When the emperor died and the Kingdom of Jiang fell, no one even knew there had once been a princess.

Yet in the end, she bore the last of their hopes, walking alone into the palace of the Kingdom of Chu, all to win one final chance at survival for the people of Jiang.

All for the sake of one conviction: “When a nation falls, what is left of home? Only when the nation survives can she survive.”

For ten years, she struggled to stay alive for nothing more than that spray of pear blossoms. But when the Chu palace was breached and the Kingdom of Jiang rose again, she was left forever amid the blazing flames.

As the events of a thousand years ago unfolded before her, Shen Li stood in the Imperial Mausoleum Exhibition Hall, her gaze drawn to a painting with no face.

“Do you think that one day there might be no more wars, and everyone could live in peace and prosperity?”

“I believe so.”

At eighteen, Heng Yi was the very picture of a favored son of heaven. Yet one night, he abandoned everything just to search for the Kingdom of Jiang from a thousand years ago. He searched for eight years.

“I'll take you home. I promise.”

Why did the white figure who appeared in his dreams always fill him with such heartache? Who had he made that promise to, and why was there so much sadness in it?

A tangled love spanning past and present lives, a bond left unfinished in a previous life. Can it finally find its happy ending this time?
