After a strange poison threw the Qin King’s memories into disarray, he mistook Ming Xi for his childhood sweetheart, the wife he cherished above all else.

Ming Xi, a lone orphan whom the Qin King had casually picked up and then kept at his manor, suddenly became the "Qin Princess Consort." Her heart was filled with panic.

She was bracing herself to be called to account by the emperor and empress dowager, but instead

Emperor: My son can recite poems now, and my younger brother has finally started thinking about a wife. Excellent. I decree this marriage!

Empress Dowager: I've nagged him about getting married until my lips are worn out, and at last this troublesome son has picked someone he likes. Excellent. Give her a reward!

Dazed, Ming Xi accepted the rewards she had expected to be punished for, and became the Qin Princess Consort. All that remained was for the Qin King to recover from the lingering poison before they could hold a grand wedding.

The day the lingering poison was cured was also the day his memories returned.

The Qin King lowered his eyes to look at Ming Xi, radiant in her wedding dress. Not a trace of warmth remained in his expression. "You used this sort of trick to force me to accept this marriage?"

Later, when the beautiful young woman dredged up the past and cried so hard she could barely catch her breath at the mention of their wedding day, the Qin King regretted running his mouth. He found a washboard and obediently knelt on it.

Important notes:

1. The heroine is taken in at the hero's manor when she is very young, but their romance begins after she grows up.

2. It's probably an old-school story.
