After I Was Transported into a Farming Novel

A slice-of-life story about everyday family matters [Yao Yao, barely alive among the living * He Xingchuan, barely alive among the dead]

Yao Yao transmigrates and becomes a timid orphan whose parents are both dead. Someone has seized her family's house and fields, and her two small, timid twin siblings gaze at her with tears in their eyes.

Their leaky, ramshackle hut stands beside an overgrown vegetable patch. All they have left, inside and out, is a handful of food.

Her vision goes black, and she slowly lies down. Better to die and be reborn sooner. All she wants is a life where she can lie flat.

On the first day He Xingchuan moves from town to Yueshan Village, he sees a slender young woman furiously kick open the door of the house next door, with two frightened little shadows trailing far behind her.

Whenever he runs into her after that, he can't help remembering her valiant figure that day.

Before long, the girl who used to walk past him without so much as a glance blocks his way and bluntly asks if he would become her live-in husband.

She clearly wants him to be her hired hand, plowing her fields and doing her chores. He Xingchuan refuses without a second thought.

By a twist of fate, the two still end up married. During the day, he works away in silence. Gradually, at night, he starts pinning her against the wall and working away in silence, too.

Yao Yao plants her feet against the man's broad, sturdy chest and grits her teeth. "You don't have to work quite so hard."

The man grips her slender ankle, his voice hoarse. "Didn't I marry into your family to work for you? If I'm going to do it anyway, I might as well put my back into it. Otherwise, I'd just be eating your food for nothing."
