Ji Qing felt terribly guilty, but she still decided to send Xiao Ci away.
She wanted him gone because he couldn't perform. She felt guilty because she'd just toyed with his body.
Even though Xiao Ci had been the one to do it himself.
Ji Qing had been the one to suggest it, though.
Ji Qing dutifully kept her eyes in check, making absolutely sure not to look below Xiao Ci's neck.
Draped in a light robe, Xiao Ci looked effortlessly charming. A faint smile lifted his lips as he asked her why she'd taken him in back then.
Ji Qing stole a glance at him. "I was going to report you to the authorities, but you were so handsome that I wanted to keep you as my husband."
Xiao Ci asked, "So now you want to kick me out?"
Ji Qing glanced at him again, hesitated for a long while, then said stiffly, "You, you can't perform."
She meant it literally.
The smile on Xiao Ci's face froze.
Ji Qing squirmed in her seat.
A moment later, Xiao Ci suddenly took her hand and pressed it to his face, looking at her. "Am I handsome?"
Ji Qing's hand trembled. Her head spun, but her palm rubbed against him of its own accord.
Xiao Ci paused, then lowered his head and nuzzled her hand with his cheek, his voice full of temptation. "Just imagine opening your eyes every morning and seeing me."
Ji Qing: ...
Xiao Ci's voice was low and husky, coaxing her gently:
"Keep me, and I'll make you happy."
Looking at that beautiful face before her, Ji Qing was still trying to make up her mind when her head took matters into its own hands and gave a little nod.

After Ji Qing's father died, the uncles who'd never kept in touch suddenly appeared, intent on forcing her to marry and seizing her family fortune.
Ji Qing was an honest soul. She held them off for two years, but just as she was about to reach her limit, she came home one day to find a man in her room.
He was extraordinarily handsome, yet deathly pale and barely breathing, hiding in her wardrobe.
Ji Qing wanted to report him to the authorities.
But then he suddenly opened his eyes and looked at her.
Ji Qing hesitated.
Xiao Ci, heir to the Northern Garrison Marquis's residence, was blessed with exceptional looks. Unfortunately, he was frail and sickly, and of little use. People in the capital would shake their heads and sigh whenever he came up in conversation.
In truth, however, Xiao Ci was the emperor's sharpest weapon. He was gloomy, unpredictable, and murderously cruel, with no regard even for his own family.
But he never imagined that one day he'd have to beg a woman to let him live, going so far as to use his looks to seduce her.
An honest heroine with weak resolve who is easily tempted * a scheming, crazy yet domestically capable hero.
Reader's Guide:
1. The hero really can't perform at first, but he'll get better later.
2. The hero's problem is psychological. There's nothing wrong with his physical structure, and he has no biological issues either.
2. The hero really is crazy, and really is bloodthirsty.
3. The heroine will keep the hero for two reasons. First, he's so handsome and seduces her, and she can't resist in the moment. Second, she's an orphan and needs help, while the hero is domestically capable and eager to serve. He takes care of the household, with her working outside and him managing things at home.
What's the heroine done wrong?
She didn't blindly pick up a man (the hero crawled into her house on his own), and she didn't waste her money. She was just momentarily bewitched by his looks.
If anyone's to blame, it's the hero. It's all his fault!
