Is Detective Fushiguro Under Suspicion Today?

Fushiguro Megumi, age 22, is a newly appointed assistant inspector in the National Police Agency's Special Abilities Division, and a rookie who has just finished his new-hire training at Jujutsu Academy.

Half a year ago, fresh out of Tokyo University, he thought he couldn't pursue a career in the police force and was torn between becoming a lawyer or a writer.

Then his dad, who was traveling the world with his mother, waved a hand and said:

"If you want to do it, go for it!"

All right.

So you bet on horse races, play pachinko, and used to disappear at midnight and turn up again at dawn after doing things that reeked of blood,

and I was once a delinquent who ruled the whole district back in middle school,

but none of that affects my background check?

After passing the National Civil Service Examination I, Fushiguro Megumi tentatively waited for his interview.

And then, dramatically enough, he actually passed.

"Well, the Zenin family has a stake in that 'higher-up' too," Fushiguro Toji said nonchalantly to his son while vacationing with his wife. "They've wanted to buy you for ages."

"You fool, you've walked right into their trap."

"Buy."

That's right. Fushiguro Megumi has the inherited Ten Shadows Technique the Zenin family has coveted for ages. More than a decade ago, this man, who was his father by blood, had nearly sold himself off.

Only after his furious mother chased him down eight blocks, brandishing a spatula, did the man get his money back from the Zenin family he'd defected from and begrudgingly buy his kid back.

Even though he'd passed the process and achieved his career goal, Officer Fushiguro still got suspected of being an enemy spy every other day.

Thanks to my delinquent past.

Thanks to my father, the former mercenary.

Thanks to that evil organization boss who inexplicably insists on making me the one.

Thanks to the Ten Shadows Technique I was born with, which is perfectly suited to working in the shadows.

But I really am as red as they come!

Fushiguro Megumi was able to live as an ordinary person until he finished his studies, all thanks to Mr. Gojo, his instructor at Jujutsu Academy, aka the administrator of the Special Abilities Division.

However, one day after Megumi joined the force, his superior's cover was blown.

The very next day, with his protector gone, Officer Fushiguro received a transfer order telling him to pack his things, undergo training, and go undercover.

Officer Fushiguro was baffled.

Officer Fushiguro was confused.

Officer Fushiguro made some inquiries...

It was a power struggle among the higher-ups, and other groups had their eyes on him because both the old and new factions in the jujutsu world were watching him closely.

Oh. Well, that explains it.

Except it doesn't.

And so Fushiguro Megumi had no choice but to throw himself into more training, preparing to go undercover at the Tokyo branch of an international terrorist organization.

Month one of training: At the Metropolitan Police Department's Mobile Unit training center, he met two specially invited officers from the bomb disposal squad. They were pretty good at defusing bombs.

Month two of training: At the Metropolitan Police Department's Public Security training base, he met a black-haired, blue-eyed colleague with phoenix eyes. He was pretty good with a gun.

Month three of training: At the National Police Agency's Security Bureau training base, he met a blond, dark-skinned mixed-race colleague. He was good at everything.

Three months after training ended, at a meeting of the Black Organization, Mr. Uchida, now disguised as a curse user, kept his eyes lowered and his thoughts to himself.

Gin pointed a gun at him. "Are you a rat?"

* Pairing: Itadori x Fushiguro. Tentatively, either volleyball player Itadori or Public Security liaison Itadori x undercover officer Megumi.

The jobs may change as the story develops.

* An AU where Megumi's mom is alive. In my personal setting, she uses the surname Fushiguro. Tsumiki is the daughter of a relative of Megumi's mom who passed away, and was later adopted by Megumi's mom and Toji, so the whole family uses the surname Fushiguro.

* Police AU. Think of it as an AU where the new jujutsu world is still somewhat unsettled after being reformed by Gojo's faction. The Special Abilities Division is attached to the National Police Agency, which officially represents the organization. Its actual status is comparable to Scepter 4 in K.

* The technical college, called Jujutsu Academy in this story, has been changed into a post-recruitment training school similar to a police academy.
