[Female Sentinel, Male Guide] [A Touch of Harem Appeal] [Rivals to Lovers] [Marriage Before Love]

As the only S-class commoner Sentinel at the Sanctuary, Huo Lie had been courted by countless Federation nobles since the day she arrived. She disdained them all.

The nobles who failed to win her over hated her to the bone, always waiting for her to fall from grace.

Huo Lie didn't care. On her very first day at the Sanctuary, she even provoked her fellow S-class Sentinel, Shi Sui, the young master of the noble House of Norkas.

Two S-class Sentinels in one year should have been a joyous event worthy of a place in Federation history. But everyone at the Sanctuary knew those two S-class Sentinels couldn't stand each other!

Some people speculated that their feud was because they had fallen for the same Guide. As rivals in love, they couldn't help but bristle whenever they met.

Others explained that Huo Lie, a commoner Sentinel, kept provoking Shi Sui, a noble and head of the Liangyi Society's Security Department. Their feud was simply because nobles wouldn't tolerate anyone insulting their dignity.

The year Shi Sui awakened as a Sentinel, the entire House of Norkas celebrated.

He was the only one troubled by his awakening as a Sentinel.

At the Sanctuary, everyone thought Shi Sui and that S-class female Sentinel had a long-standing grudge. But only he knew how badly he wished he could become a Guide suited to her.

For her sake, Shi Sui secretly learned how to provide mental guidance to Sentinels. He also studied how to become a gentle, levelheaded Sentinel, since those were the traits Sentinels liked in a Guide.

Later, Shi Sui finally got his wish and became a Guide.

[Bonus Scene]

After their training at the Sanctuary, all Sentinels have to find a compatible Guide before they can enter the White Tower and take on higher-level missions.

But Huo Lie wanted to use her talent development, which had surpassed the S-class Sentinel limit, along with hundreds of records of her clearing contamination zones alone, to become the first Dark Sentinel in White Tower history to take missions solo.

Everyone was stunned. They were shocked by her arrogance, and just as shocked that she had the strength to back it up.

But the Sanctuary had already sent in all the data for testing.

Dark Sentinel Huo Lie and S-class Guide Shi Sui are a perfect match. Please choose a date to enter the White Tower and receive your mission from the Queen.

The huge display showed not only their 100% compatibility, but also a partner symbol between their names.

Everyone present went wild!

: Wait, what!? Haven't you two always been at each other's throats!?

: A 100% match is one thing, but when did you two get engaged!?

[Things to Know Before Reading]

1. Female Sentinel, male Guide. The female lead is the strongest, and she's the only Dark Sentinel.

2. The male lead has a secret crush.

3. The female lead's spirit animal is a blue sapphire ornamental tarantula (well... I'd avoid spiders in real life, but online they're top tier). The male lead's spirit animal is a green-banded blue butterfly.

4. The plot-to-romance ratio is 70:30.

5. Lots of original worldbuilding; my take on the Sentinel-Guide setting. The female lead's innate rank is Dark Sentinel from the start, but the testing equipment can only detect up to S-class. Also, awakening a rank doesn't mean your strength has reached that level. It depends on each person's talent development during training: the higher the development percentage, the stronger their ability. For example, an S-class Sentinel with 10% talent development would be less capable in combat than an A-class Sentinel with over 80%. The maximum talent development is 100%.
