[Opening at the end of the year]
The Empress Dowager’s family is finally cleared of a wrongful conviction. Her son, Gu Xingjian, is brought back to the palace at the age of eight and made Crown Prince. But the trauma of his early years has left him withdrawn and unwilling to speak to anyone. He can go days without saying a word, much to the emperor’s distress.
The emperor tries everything to teach the young Crown Prince how to talk to people, but nothing works.
Eventually, the Marquis of Guoning sends his seven-year-old daughter to the palace to keep the Crown Prince company.
Xi Shuyi is pretty and docile, except for one thing: she never stops talking. She’s a chatterbox through and through.
Before she leaves, her mother warns her, “Whatever you do, don’t mention the Crown Prince’s birth mother. It’s a painful subject for him.”
Xi Shuyi promises she won’t, then goes to the Eastern Palace and meets the withdrawn Crown Prince. The first thing she says is, “I heard your mother used to be the most beautiful woman in the capital. What a coincidence, my mother is too!”
Gu Xingjian’s face darkens on the spot.
Xi Shuyi talks nonstop. Even when Gu Xingjian completely ignores her, she doesn’t mind at all. She plops down beside him like they’re old friends and keeps right on talking.
Gu Xingjian is used to ignoring people, but he never expects the girl to get tired of talking, go to the door to ask for some sweet drink, and keep chattering while noisily slurping it down.
At last, in the face of her unceasing babble, the Crown Prince can’t take it anymore and snaps, “Shut, shut up!”
Xi Shuyi is delighted. “I thought you were mute, but you just stutter!”
Gu Xingjian thinks she’s unbearably annoying!
[That evening, Xi Shuyi’s mother asks how things went with the Crown Prince.
Xi Shuyi says they got along wonderfully. She ate well and had fun, except for one thing: “The Crown Prince wouldn’t talk to me.”]

The protagonists’ names may change. It’s a story about a bunch of little kids, who will grow up later on.
A lighthearted childhood-sweethearts romance. It probably won’t be very long.
