An Honest Beta Forced Into a Melodrama

Gu Zhixi wakes from a nightmare and realizes she has transmigrated into a sci-fi angst novel as the heroine.

In the plot, the heroine is an illegitimate daughter brought back from a barren planet to marry in place of her second older brother. In everyone's eyes, her second brother is the moon in the sky, while she is the grass by the river.

The contrast between the moon in the sky and the grass by the river is so cruel that no matter how hard she tries, the heroine can never escape her fate as an Omega. She is mocked for reaching above her station as one angsty, heart-wrenching plotline after another unfolds.

To fix the problem at its source, Gu Zhixi chooses to become a Beta.

After all, Betas have weak pheromones and cannot be marked.

Gu Zhixi happily gets into Imperial University, thinking she has changed her fate. But who could have guessed that the plot would bolt like a runaway horse and become impossible to rein in?

*

First, her stiff, serious eldest brother and her second brother, his family's white moonlight, start looking at her more and more strangely, even turning against their good friend, who was her former fiance.

The roommate she picks up is an Imperial prince pretending to be a Beta, and he and a busty transfer student are sworn enemies. One begs her to mark him, while the other offers herself to her, hoping to become the third party in a relationship.

A professor with an outrageous need for control tries to sabotage every one of her romances so she will focus on her studies. This drives the usually aloof ruling general to tell her not to associate with unsavory people.

And that's not even mentioning the forum shipping her with everyone, or how her personal belongings keep mysteriously disappearing...

Gu Zhixi: "..."

Why is it still so melodramatic?

*

Graduation is just around the corner, and the world has become a sieve. The royal family is embroiled in a power struggle, the rebel army is seizing control, and advanced civilizations are watching hungrily from the sidelines. The world is in desperate need of a spiritual leader.

Gu Zhixi, who only wants to retire and enjoy a quiet life, is pushed onto the podium to campaign.

She wonders how on earth she ended up here. There are so many outstanding people around, so what makes her worthy?

But when she looks down at the crowd, these top-tier Alphas and Omegas are busy having glands removed, running away while pregnant, and beating up mistresses... They've gone completely off the rails.

Why won't fate leave her alone?

Gu Zhixi, with dead-fish eyes: Fine, let's do this.

A level-headed, cool, sarcastic, and seemingly unattainable little sister x arrogant rich heirs with all kinds of flavors who eventually fall hard

Reader's Guide:

1. The heroine grows into an all-around powerhouse. Things don't go smoothly for her at first. The story includes campus life, competitions, alien exploration, and conflicts between civilizations.

2. The heroine is surrounded by unrequited crushes. Romance happens in stages, with one final pairing (includes gender-bender scenes and a devoted sidekick).

3. All the male characters are virgins, but they're crazy. They target her at first, then fall for her and shower her with resources.

4. The weapons and research in the story are all made up by the author. The author has never actually been to outer space (hey, you!).
