After Our Pretend Romance Became Real with the Little Mute

Wen Ran has a language-disorder System and has been unable to speak since childhood.

He's introverted, mild-mannered, and avoids trouble. At eighteen, he spent a year in prison.

To keep himself safe there, he slept beside a man's pillow.

That man was quiet, rough, and strong, as black as pure darkness. Yet he protected Wen Ran for a long time, until the day he was released.

Xue Jian spent a year idling in prison. Everyone thought he was straightforward and decisive, but in truth, he just couldn't be bothered.

Prison life was quiet and uneventful. One day, a mute little rabbit showed up beside his pillow, docile and obedient, taking any position he was put in. He didn't speak or cause trouble.

Xue Jian figured that keeping the other man nearby to sleep with was a decent way to pass the time. When the rabbit was released, he didn't stop him.

Xue Jian met the mute little rabbit again when he was twenty. The other man had gotten into trouble somewhere dark and couldn't bring himself to fight back, so Xue Jian rescued him.

Over the next few rainy nights, Xue Jian kept running into the mute man in trouble. He took him in, and before long they ended up in bed together again.

When one of his subordinates asked about Wen Ran, Xue Jian said indifferently, "We were just having fun. It was consensual, and I enjoyed it back then."

Later, Wen Ran wanted to return to his hometown and settle down. Xue Jian stopped him. "Why leave? Can't we live a good life together, just like this?"

Xue Jian was set on building a life with Wen Ran. A small wish began to take root in his heart: he wanted to hear Wen Ran speak, wanted to hear him say his name.

The mute little man he'd once thought was quiet and no trouble had become the darling whose very thought made Xue Jian's heart grow tender.
