As one of the few real drinkers at the Water Factory, Gin had worked conscientiously, diligently, and overtime without asking for overtime pay, doing every kind of bad deed. At last, karma caught up with him.
Moderately advanced squamous cell lung cancer. A five-year survival rate of no more than 40 percent, with a natural life expectancy of two to three years.
Fine. Gin loved his job and was dedicated to it, faithfully fulfilling his duties. He had planned to spend those final three years clearing obstacles for the Boss, so the distillery wouldn't collapse right after he kicked the bucket.
Then he got bound to a System.
Gin: What can you give me?
System: Beauty.
Gin: ? And then?
System: Isn't beauty enough?
What good is that?
Why not cure my illness and let me work for the distillery for another thirty years?
After learning that the System was completely useless beyond making people more beautiful, and that the effect was permanent, Gin put it aside. The thing usually didn't bother him, and its presence was practically zero. He might as well treat it as a free cosmetic surgery.
He put it out of his mind and continued rushing around catching rats, spitting up blood as he chopped off traitors' heads. What he hadn't expected was that most people in this world judged by appearances.
*Gin-centric, no romantic storyline, but everyone likes teasing Gin.
*Everyday light comedy in Beika Town. Lots of personal headcanons, heavily altered plot, more realistic tone, toned-down Detective Science, ridiculous spy drama, and extremely out-of-character portrayals.
*Set in 2001, with technology and the timeline not matching up.
*The System is only good for cosmetic surgery. Gin himself is the main reason things work out.
*Gin in this story: Top combatant on the Black Faction; still the top combatant despite being seriously ill; the Water Factory's strongest agent; utterly unemotional and loves no one; professionally trained and highly skilled in combat; excellent at logical deduction; a true black-hearted villain. He only cares about the organization's interests and works for the distillery with complete loyalty.
Personal headcanons:
1. Gin is of Soviet origin, with a complicated past.
2. Real drinks mixed with water. Except for having a soft spot for the Miyano sisters, he's otherwise a cold-blooded top killer.
Theme: Love the work you do.
