Shen Tangning is the legitimate daughter of a declining marquis household. Though gentle and quiet by nature, she is beautiful and alluring, and her reputation among the noble young ladies of the capital is not very good. When she was fifteen, her uncle arranged a prestigious marriage for her to curry favor with a powerful family.
But an accident led her, despite already being engaged, to sleep with the heir of the Duke of Zhenguo at a banquet.
Xie Zhan, heir of the Duke of Zhenguo, is a promising young man, as handsome as an orchid tree. He and the Chief Councillor's granddaughter grew up together and were childhood sweethearts, waiting only for her coming-of-age ceremony before they married.
But once the news got out, both sides had no choice but to end their previous engagements. The Duke of Zhenguo's household sent people to Pingning Marquis's residence to ask for Shen Tangning's hand.
From the proposal to setting the wedding date, her fiancé Xie Zhan never once appeared.
Three months later, a heartbroken Shen Tangning, heavily pregnant, hurriedly married into the Duke of Zhenguo's household.
On their wedding night, Shen Tangning held back her tears and said to her husband, who had lifted her veil and was about to leave coldly, "Rest assured, Heir. As soon as I give birth, I will divorce you at once. I won't keep bothering you or entangling myself with you."
Xie Zhan paused, then left with his face still cold.
-
Xie Zhan had been forced to marry Shen Tangning. To him, she was a stranger, a vain, fickle woman, his wife, and even the mother of his child.
He had not the slightest affection for her. If not for the child, he thought he would never even set foot in her courtyard.
As the child grew, Xie Zhan began visiting her courtyard more and more often. He discovered that, though she spoke little, she was quiet and gentle by nature and never made things difficult for anyone.
She had apparently never held a grudge against him, either. She spoke softly and treated him with thoughtful, attentive care...
After some time spent treating each other with frosty courtesy, Xie Zhan thought that since they already had a child and Shen Tangning did not want a divorce, if she could change her old ways, he might consider continuing to make a life with her.
Then, on the night of the Lantern Festival, with the streets bright as day, he saw his pregnant wife release a lotus lantern into the river. Her delicate features were gentle and devout.
After his wife left, Xie Zhan, as if possessed, fished the lantern out of the water. But the name written on it was not his at all:
"Brother Zhongyun, may you enjoy a long and blessed life."
Zhongyun was the courtesy name of her former fiancé.
Xie Zhan tore the lotus lantern in his hands to shreds.

I won't indulge you, so don't come to my story to make yourself feel important. I'll write my stories however I want. No writing advice, please. If you don't like it, click the X and move on.
*Pride and Prejudice, pregnancy before love, face-slapping and eating one's words.
*A young man and woman falling in love. Both leads are flawed.
Specifically, the male lead has a bad temper and is mean. He is no gentleman, and early on he genuinely looks down on the female lead, believing her to be fickle and flirtatious. You can think of her, in his eyes at that point, as the white-lotus supporting character. The female lead is not assertive, and is weak in both personality and health. She cries when she's sad. (I don't consider this a flaw in her personality. Some commenters criticize her for crying all the time. Every girl has her own strengths, but people insult her for her flaws and ignore her good qualities. I don't think that's loving women.) She isn't made of steel and won't bottle things up. If you want a heroine who doesn't cry and isn't sensitive, click the X and move on. I'm trying out different kinds of leads in each of my books. I've already written a heroine who always gets revenge, and now I want to try a different kind of heroine. The two of them argue every day, and the comments section is full of people scolding them. If you've read the warnings and can't accept this, please don't come in and make yourself miserable.
*Note: The phrase used here sounds like "treating each other with courteous respect," but means the opposite: the male and female leads are cold toward each other and have no feelings for one another.

"Winning the Emperor's Heart"
Zhaozhao is the daughter of the richest family in Qingzhou City. She is spoiled and uninhibited, and breathtakingly beautiful.
One day, she found a man unconscious in the snow.
Although badly injured, the man had an air of refined nobility and was exceptionally handsome. Zhaozhao fell in love with him at first sight and brought him home to nurse him back to health. She pursued him relentlessly and humbled herself for him, but he remained disdainful of her.
Unable to have the man she loved, Zhaozhao lashed him until his skin split, wanting to break his proud spirit. He would rather pass out from the pain than beg her for mercy.
Furious, Zhaozhao made him drink a cup of love-bug wine.
Anyone who drank this enchanted wine had no cure. For the rest of their life, they could only share a bed with the person who had dosed them.
Watching the once proud and aloof man become overwhelmed with desire beneath her, letting her command him, Zhaozhao felt more satisfied than ever before.
That night, she had a ridiculous dream.
In the dream, the man was of noble birth. Once he regained his identity, he took revenge on Zhaozhao for humiliating him, making her his concubine and abusing her at will. Poor Zhaozhao ultimately watched her entire family die a violent death.
Zhaozhao awoke drenched in cold sweat. Trembling, she tried to make conversation with the man as he dressed beside the bed. "You... worked hard last night. Are you tired?"
The man looked at her expressionlessly. Then, to her shock, he took off his clothes again and pinned her beneath him.
Not long afterward, the man accidentally fell off a cliff and was killed, his body never found. But Zhaozhao's belly grew bigger by the day.

After the new emperor ascended the throne, Xu Yan was granted the title of General Zhaoyong for helping him claim the throne.
But during a work trip, he inexplicably lost a year's worth of memories.
What was more, he could not bring himself to feel the slightest interest in the suitable women his mother carefully picked out for him.
Until one day, his nephew brought a mother and son before him. The moment the woman saw him, fear appeared on her face.
As Xu Yan looked at the woman's soft, lovely face, fragments of intimate memories surfaced in his mind.
He was pressing a woman beneath him, ravishing her without restraint.
Xu Yan narrowed his eyes.
At first, to save her own life, Zhaozhao lied to him: "I saved you three years ago, my lord. We were in love with each other."
Unexpectedly, he believed her and insisted on marrying her.ヽ(°◇° )ノ
Later, in the bedroom, Xu Yan had regained his memories. He trapped Zhaozhao when she tried to escape, placed a whip in her hand himself, and spoke in a low voice.
"Weren't we in love with each other?"
*Good news: the powerful official she once forced into a relationship has lost his memory.
Bad news: he has turned the tables and is forcing her into a relationship.
*Cold and calculating man x spoiled beauty. The heroine only whips the hero and bad people. She will still whip him after they reunite, and the hero likes being whipped by her. He calls it a bit of fun.
"Stepmother"
My father, nearing forty, recently married a stepmother three years younger than him.
My stepmother was just sixteen, beautiful,
but timid and shrinking, vain, and utterly lacking the bearing of a marquis's wife. She even stammered when she spoke to me.
Watching my usually woman-averse father succumb to late-life passion, Xiao Yan felt contempt.
After my father died in battle, my stepmother was widowed.
Since she had lost her husband in her youth, Xiao Yan decided that if she behaved herself and remained widowed in the marquis's household for the rest of her life, he would provide for her in her old age and see her to her grave.

Jingxian was the daughter of an ordinary minor official. Her parents married her off to the forty-year-old Marquis of Yongchang as his second wife.
The Marquis of Yongchang was older, but handsome and gentle, and he cherished Jingxian.
But then an accident took her husband in battle.
Jingxian cried herself dry and resolved to remain faithful to her deceased husband for the rest of her life.
On the night before her husband's funeral, Jingxian suddenly realized she was inside a storybook. After her husband's death, she would have an affair with her brother-in-law and ultimately die by her stepson's sword!
Her stepson had always been icy toward her and had never treated her as a mother.
When Jingxian woke up, she trembled at the sight of her stepson.
To avoid repeating the story's ending, she immediately kept her brother-in-law at a distance. Every day, she also fussed over her stepson and cared for him attentively, hoping only that he would go easy on her when he killed her.
Until one night, her stepson entered her room and asked calmly, "Would you like a child to raise?"
Jingxian was so moved she cried, believing her efforts had paid off, and agreed.
She had no children after marriage and had no one to rely on. Perhaps adopting a stepson would make her future less dull.
Later, on countless spring nights filled with passion, Jingxian pushed at the man pinning her beneath him and begged, trembling and tearful, "Eldest Brother, I... I only wanted to adopt a child..."
The man traced her alluring features again and again. His voice was hoarse but firm. "How can an adopted child be as reliable as your own?"
*A cultured father with one last chance at glory (40) x an honest, gentle stepmother x a sanctimonious stepson (19)
*One woman and two men, but the stepson is the male lead. It's a melodramatic story, and the father will return later, leading to father and son making peace (fanmuchengchou).
*The father and son are descended from people of the steppe, and the setting assumes they accept the custom of a son inheriting his father's wife.
Theme: Marriage is about accepting and accommodating each other.
Babies, I would like to recommend to you the historical novel "Traveling back to the 1950s with my little uncle" and the pre-released "Being Pregnant with the Boss's Child Traveling to the 1960s" written by gay friend Hua Qinghui. They are so good!! 1. "Being Pregnant with a Boss and Traveling to the 1960s": Wen Zhi had an erotic dream for half a month. In the dream, she couldn't see the man's appearance clearly. She only remembered the man's strong figure and the powerful force when he was riding on her body. There were vaguely seen old objects from the 1960s around her. Half a month later, Wen Zhi became pregnant. The question is, since her mother was single, where did her children come from? When Wen Zhi opened her eyes again, she came to the 1960s. The familiar names made her realize that she had stepped into a period novel that she had just read not long ago, and she happened to have the same name as the hero's sister-in-law whose life and death were unknown. In order to survive, Wen Zhi pretended to be the hero's sister-in-law. She played the role of a weak and miserable sister-in-law beside him. In order to survive in the 1960s when there was a lack of food and clothing, she greeted her brother-in-law and showed her utmost concern. But Wen Zhi found that the way the man looked at her with respect at the beginning gradually became darker and darker, especially when the military wife introduced her to someone who was about to get married, but Chen Mingzhou secretly blocked her. Under the eaves, a man blocked Wen Zhi's path, staring at her with his deep black eyes: "Sister-in-law, actually you don't need to remarry, I can support you for the rest of your life." At first, when Chen Mingzhou brought Wen Zhi back, he only regarded her as his respected sister-in-law. He respected her, took care of her, and took care of her and his eldest brother's only bloodline. Later, every time he came back from training, he would see the women walking back and forth in the courtyard with their pregnant bellies, and smell the smoke of fireworks in the room. The desire that had been suppressed in his heart for a long time would continue to grow as the night swallowed him up. He tried his best to suppress this shady feeling. But looking at the comrades who were trying to marry his sister-in-law, Chen Mingzhou kicked them out one by one, and he had the idea of taking Wen Zhi as his own. Until the day Wen Zhi gave birth, the women's director ran out with the newborn baby in her arms and looked at him in shock: "Camp Commander Chen, why does this child look so similar to you?!" Chen Mingzhou:… He also wanted to know why this child looked so much like him. 2. "Travel back to the 1950s with my little uncle": Jiang Li traveled to the late 1950s and became a left-behind woman in the countryside. The next six months will be the most difficult three years. At that time, only the troops will not starve. It just so happened that the husband of the original owner was stationed on the island, and I heard he was still a regimental leader. A telegram was sent to Jiang Li. She rushed to the island all the way and saw her husband standing at the dock. The man was wearing a white military uniform. He was tall and his stern features were exactly the same as her uncle in her previous life. When Jiang Li saw the original owner's husband for the first time, she opened her mouth and subconsciously called out: "Uncle." Jiang Li never thought that one day she would live in the 1950s and become a couple with a man who looked exactly like her uncle. Every time she saw Song Chuan and thought of him as her husband, Jiang Li always felt embarrassed as if she were a junior with her toes on the ground in front of her elders. After arriving on the island, she had been hiding from Song Chuan and stayed in a room alone at night. Later, Jiang Li gradually discovered that something was not right with Song Chuan. He began to like smoking, like to take the initiative to get close to her, and like to teach her some principles of life. If anyone makes her unhappy, he will help her vent her anger, just like a parent supports his child. That momentum, that look, that habit were exactly the same as her brother-in-law. At night, Jiang Li ran into Song Chuan's room with a pillow and lay on his bed. Staring at the man's handsome and familiar face, she asked tentatively: "Uncle, are you here too?" Song Chuan's brother entrusted his daughter to him before he died, hoping that he could raise Jiang Li to adulthood. At that time, Song Chuan had just turned 20 and moved to another city with ten-year-old Jiang Li to support her in schooling, from elementary school to university, and then to the society. Finally, Jiang Li took a man home and happily said to him: "Brother-in-law, this is my fiancé, and I'm getting married." Song Chuan smiled and congratulated her, prepared for her wedding, and personally sent her to another man. But on the wedding day, Jiang Li died suddenly and unexpectedly. Song Chuan buried Jiang Li's ashes next to his tombstone. Later, Song Chuan also wore it until the late 1950s. And his current identity is Jiang Li's husband.
I came from Luojun 😂 I can only say that Luojun Aying's character is amazing. In comparison, Ning Ning seems to be less bright and softer, but she is also a heroine who is soft on the outside and strong on the inside. 😂 The main reason is that although Xie Gou wanted to create a young and frivolous image in the early stage, sometimes it seemed a bit too much, and it even made people think that he only lost his temper. The uncle was also a cold and somewhat macho person in the early stage, but his senses are good 🤔 I was so uncomfortable watching the part where Xie Gou was framed in the later period 😭 Ning Ning firmly went to find him and I was very moved 🌈 🌈 But there was a scene later where the dog lost his temper because of the second male lead, which was a bit repetitive 😂 😂 Anyway, I still like the wife's writing style 🧋 Beep a little, in fact, the extravagance of the robbery is super touching [face-covering peek] [face-covering peek] [face-covering peek]
