I Only Date the Number One

Lin Boyan was the school heartthrob at No. 1 High School. He had fair skin, good looks, a wealthy family, and a sharp mind. He could take an exam without much effort and still rank in the top five, sometimes even first.

Gong Yue was widely considered the school’s resident heartbreaker. Though he was a guy, his alluring peach-blossom eyes shimmered, having captivated countless innocent boys and girls.

The hottest thread on No. 1 High School’s forum was titled: "Gong Yue smiled at me today. I feel like my heart got hit. Am I going to turn gay? I’m scared."

The replies below were all the same.

- You’re not the only one.

.

One day, Gong Yue announced that he was going to pursue the top student in the whole grade, and the entire school went wild!

Lin Boyan, who had just ranked first in the previous monthly exam, sneered. "Damn, what a pain. I’m straight, and I’d rather break than bend. Get lost!"

Gong Yue: "Okay, then I’ll go after whoever comes first in next month’s exam."

Lin Boyan: "..."

.

That day, all the students in the school started working hard.

They claimed they didn’t care, but secretly they were all grinding away.

Only Lin Boyan sneered in silence.

.

And yet...

The top student in the second monthly exam: Lin Boyan.

The top student in the third monthly exam: Lin Boyan.

The top student in the midterms: Lin Boyan.

The top student in the citywide joint exam: Lin Boyan.

Lin Boyan: "I may have suddenly started working hard, doing ten practice tests a day, studying until two in the morning, and hiring seven or eight private tutors... but I’m really not interested in taking first place and getting Gong Yue to pursue me."

.

One day, Lin shoved Gong Yue against the wall.

His eyes were red, his voice full of grievance.

"Hey, liar. I’ve come first seven times in a row. When exactly are you going to pursue me?"

.

One-on-one, happy ending, Lin Boyan is the seme.
