In the human realm, they lived as siblings and spouses. Once the tribulation was over, his disciple survived, and he reclaimed the fragment of his soul. Their debt was settled.

However, when the mischievous little beast treated the tribulation as no more than ordinary cultivation, continued to regard him as a dispensable Shizun, and flirted with everyone, just as he had hoped she would, he suddenly felt a little regret.

He regretted not imprisoning her and binding her from the very beginning, keeping her confined in his cage so that from then on, he would be the only one she could see.

Reading guide:

1. The story is split into two volumes. The first is set in the human world, and the sibling relationship ends later on. It has a sweet, traditional historical-romance feel: a refined, distinguished top scholar versus an innocent, sheltered, adorable younger sister who worships her older brother.

2. The second volume is about gods and ghosts, and features a master-disciple relationship. The heroine is a divine beast, lazy and carefree, and slow to catch on, with overwhelming combat strength in her original form. The hero is an emotionless, desireless god at first, but after falling for her, he starts winning himself over. Unrequited love brings out his unhealthy obsession and violent tendencies.

3. Set in a fictional world, this is pure sweetness. The plot exists only to serve the romance.

4. Content warnings: There may be rivalry among men. There is also forced possession. The hero is passionately, earnestly, humbly, and obsessively in love, mainly in the second volume.

Theme: A woman’s greatest virtue is being clear-eyed and self-aware.
