Has Okkotsu Been Happy Today?

To get home, Chihaya has to complete the tasks assigned by the System: make one of the rescue targets reach a happiness level of at least 80 percent. So she confidently chose Classmate Yuta, who looked like he’d be easy to fool, thinking, I know this plot inside out. It’s always the same: someone gets trapped by a monster, drifts away from family and friends because of the monster, and eventually sinks into darkness all alone. So, to sum up, all she had to do was deal with the monster. Chihaya set off full of confidence. ...Then things went a little differently. Lying in her hospital bed, Chihaya listened to Rika’s story from beginning to end, then fell silent for a moment. She sincerely asked the System, “System, I admit I was wrong to be so picky before. Is there still any chance I can change my target?” After receiving a negative answer, Chihaya, who was afraid of ghosts but even more afraid of never getting home, struggled to make Yuta a suggestion. “Since she has a mind of her own, how about I help you, and we tame Rika together?” She added earnestly, “That way, you won’t have to avoid everyone and be alone anymore.” Yuta, sitting beside the bed with his head lowered, froze. Note 1: “Tame” here is adapted from the “taming” of the fox by the Little Prince in The Little Prince. As you tame me, I tame you in turn. It’s a process of mutual commitment and communication. Our communication and commitment to each other make us the one and only person for each other in a sea of people. There’s no negative connotation. This is important, so I’ll say it three times!!!!!! Note 2: This story is a very slow burn, and a substantial portion takes place before Jujutsu High. The Jujutsu High storyline doesn’t officially begin until the story goes premium. Note 3: Suguru Geto survives in this story, and unless something unexpected happens, other characters will be spared too. The story may even reach the Shibuya Incident. It contains major spoilers, so please read with caution. Note 4: The heroine looks like an angel, but she has plenty of psychological issues. She’s highly capable, but her poor combat instincts mean she can only grow slowly, so please don’t expect too much. The story incorporates some elements from A Certain Magical Index and A Certain Scientific Railgun, but they make up only a small part and won’t affect your enjoyment of the story. I’d also like to recommend my friend Sirius’s Harry Potter fanfic, Good Dog and Femme Fatale, as well as their Spider-Man fanfic, The Spider-Catching Handbook. If you’re a fan of Sirius or Spider-Man, go check them out! Much love. Theme: Love is both a curse and a salvation
