A Suspicious Empress

[Please add my upcoming novel, Celebrating the Immortal Groom's Good Fortune, to your reading list!] When Xiao Ruo was young and foolish, he offended the gloomy Crown Prince and fled to a distant land. Three years later, the gloomy Crown Prince ascended the throne. His reputation for brutality had only grown worse. Summoned back to the palace by an imperial decree, Xiao Ruo instantly became a candidate for empress. After entering the palace, Xiao Ruo asked himself three questions every day: What does His Majesty want? Is His Majesty going to harm me? When will His Majesty send me to the Cold Palace? But the mistreatment he expected never came. The emperor was unpredictable, but treated him exceptionally well. He gave him extra clothes when it was cold, coaxed him into taking medicine when he was sick, and would give him the stars if he asked, not just the moon. As time passed, Xiao Ruo couldn't help falling for him. Xiao Ruo was utterly devastated, his heart a cold ruin. Xiao Ruo: I get it now. He planned all of this to make me fall for him, only to cruelly cast me aside afterward. Better to end the pain quickly than let it drag on. Xiao Ruo decided to leave this place of heartbreak, but that very night, he was captured and brought back. In a sealed, windowless room. His eyes were covered with black gauze. Tears dampened his cheeks, and the man's gentle voice filled his ears. His Majesty the Emperor: After playing the good man for so long, I see my empress prefers being treated like this. Xiao Ruo: ??? A suspicious beauty who loves to overthink (shou) x a cold to everyone but the shou, obsessive and gloomy emperor (gong) The gong and shou only have each other. Happy ending. New novel!
