Byodoin Yuma is the younger brother of Byodoin Houou. After his parents divorced, he moved to America with his mother.
His mother, Ryoko, had a friend named Echizen Rinko. Through her, Yuma met the Echizen brothers, and they played tennis together.
A few years later, just as Yuma was about to start middle school, his mother returned to Japan for work.
Taking Nanjiro's advice at face value, Yuma chose Seigaku. But after enrolling, he was told he'd have to waste a whole year picking up balls.
Then a senior in the Seigaku tennis club, jealous of Tezuka, injured his hand.
Furious, Yuma reported the incident to the Kanto Tennis Association and quit the Seigaku tennis club alongside Tezuka. On his older brother's advice, he transferred to Makino Fuji Academy in Kansai.
To "get back at" the unreliable Nanjiro, Yuma also dragged Ryoga, who had come to the Land of the Rising Sun, over to Makino Fuji.
Tokugawa Kazuya, who had lost to Yuma in the European Cup, heard the news and came looking for him too...
Byodoin Houou was finally in a great mood after coaxing his little brother onto his own turf. He was ready to take good care of the brother he hadn't seen in ages, only to discover that Yuma now had a laid-back childhood friend, a poker-faced stickler, and an elite player back from overseas at his side.
Why were all of them exactly the type he hated? (╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻ His little brother couldn't be allowed to pick up bad habits from those brats!
The main cast: Tokugawa Kazuya (third year, in this story he returned to Japan early), Echizen Ryoga (second year, in this story), Byodoin Yuma (first year), Tezuka Kunimitsu (first year), Chitose Senri (first year, transferring from Shishigaku a year later), and Echizen Ryoma (joining two years later)...
And also...
Atobe Keigo (an exchange student for one term, temporary club member) and Yukimura Seiichi (an exchange student for one term, temporary club member).
From then on, the temporary club members and their temporary captain will get caught up in a competitive whirlwind of one-on-one practice matches and joint training camps between three schools.
Shiraishi: I hear a captain who's never been an exchange student at Makino Fuji isn't a real captain. Maybe I should give it a try too?
Theme: Fight with passion, leave no regrets in your youth.
