The Diary of Hu Lai, Matchmaker for Hire III

To stop the world from being destroyed, to protect the world...

Oops! Wrong line... Actually, I just want to set up blind dates for four girls. It'll be convenient for all you fierce ghosts who are interested...

Oh?

I wasn't even done talking. Why'd you run off? Even ghosts shouldn't be rude! Come back, all of you! Come back! Sign up for a blind date and I'll throw in a reincarnation package and an afterlife guide. Want one? Meet them once and you'll get an even bigger discount! I can knock the price down again!

There's a matchmaker named Hu Lai, who casually ties together any two people with a thread of fate. He pairs monsters and spirits with young men, and beautiful women with evil ghosts.

He never cares about the realms or the six paths. All he wants is to join red threads. But he's so unreasonable, he stirs up trouble everywhere.

He goes on like this day after day, year after year, throwing Heaven and Earth into chaos. The living lose their souls, the dead their spirits, and the gods in the divine halls suffer endlessly.

All the other immortals are in a panic, while he alone grins with delight. Then one day a newcomer arrives and takes a closer look at Hu Lai.

Without investigating, life would have gone on as usual. But investigating only reveals endless disasters. Just to keep the threads of fate from snapping, he even alters people's destinies.

Whether they live or die is one thing, but to him, the heavenly laws are mere scraps of paper. Every time he ties a thread, he forces the couple together, and one thread ruins an otherwise good match.

This fool doesn't even realize it. He does whatever he likes, always acting recklessly. He does every sort of outrageous thing and still dares to call it a romantic tale.

He writes down every offense, yet still thinks he's arranged a fine match. He comments on each and every case, never realizing that beyond the thread, other ties of fate await.

He compiles his outrageous deeds into a book, infuriating his successor and driving his former, retired colleague to distraction. Neither can compete with his own account of himself.

Theme: The love between humans and ghosts has run its course!
