The Regent Says He Can't Perform

The court says the Prince Regent has seized all power and is wildly ambitious, planning to control the emperor and command the feudal lords...

Ying Qi: Nonsense! His Highness devotes himself wholeheartedly to the country. He’s never met a prince so dedicated to the people and the realm.

The people say the Prince Regent is a monstrous beast, ugly as a demon, cruel by nature, and eats three children every night to sate his hunger...

Ying Qi was furious. What utter nonsense! His prince was peerlessly handsome, graceful, charming, dashing, and free-spirited...

Who was spreading such ridiculous rumors? He’d tear their mouth apart!

Everyone says the Prince Regent is twenty-eight, yet his residence is still empty. He’s never even touched a young lady’s hand. Surely he must be impotent...

Ying Qi: ... (The shadow guard ponders.)

Impotent? Then what has been mounting him day and night?

One day, the prime minister paid a visit to the prince’s residence.

Prime Minister: I have a daughter, of marriageable age, gifted and beautiful, who has long admired Your Highness. I humbly dare to seek a match between our families.

Prince Regent: I am impotent.

Prime Minister: ...

Ying Qi: ...

A few days later.

Local gossipmonger: Breaking news! The Prince Regent himself admitted he can’t perform!
