Sheng Yangche, an esper who traveled through countless worlds in pursuit of studying the five senses and humanity, accidentally fell into the land of Liyue in Teyvat during a transmigration accident. At the time, Liyue was still a barren land. Rex Lapis had yet to establish it as one of the seven nations, and the humans of various tribes sought the protection of powerful gods.
Sheng Yangche had planned to conceal her identity, pretend to be an ordinary person, and continue researching the five senses among the people. But the badly wounded young woman she accidentally saved turned out to be the guardian god of a human tribe. Her divine name was Shalges. The god told Sheng Yangche that she had brought her people here to settle, only to be ambushed by other gods. There was no hope of saving her.
Shalges was at death's door and near the end of her lifespan, yet she still worried about the human subjects outside her care. She also feared the immense elemental surge caused by her death would harm them. With no other choice, she transferred all her divine power to Sheng Yangche. From that moment on, Sheng Yangche became the Archon Shalges.
And just like that, Sheng Yangche became a mom without even trying, mysteriously saddled with a huge burden. She even wanted to explode on the spot, but what else could she do? She still had research to conduct, but didn't want to raise her people. Which Archon in Liyue could take in Shalges's tribe?
To get rid of this hot potato, and taking the current situation in Liyue into account, Sheng Yangche came up with a plan: whichever Archon could defeat her would get her territory and people.
As soon as the news got out, countless gods flocked to take her up on it. After making a few inquiries, they were all stunned. Good grief, Shalges, you're ridiculously weak! How come any old god can push you around? Sheng Yangche couldn't help complaining.
As an Archon whose power was to control the seven senses, Shalges wasn't much of a fighter. Among the gods who controlled Hydro, she was about as weak as they came. No wonder she'd been beaten to death. But what the other gods didn't know was that the Shalges before them was no longer the weak god she'd once been. She was Sheng Yangche, who could handle both fighting and research. As a visitor from another world, she already had impressive combat skills, and receiving the Archon's power had greatly increased her strength.
Out of a sense of responsibility toward her human subjects, Sheng Yangche crushed the gods who came looking for a fight. She accidentally made a name for herself, and the gods she'd beaten were horrified. When had the timid, quail-like Shalges become so powerful? Afraid she'd silence them, they ceded their lands to ensure their own safety. By the time Sheng Yangche realized what was happening, she had already taken over half the territory north of Liyue and truly become a guardian god ruling over a vast domain.
Hey, that wasn't what I intended! Now I can't even run away, Sheng Yangche thought miserably.
Just then, Morax, the powerful Geo Archon on the other side of Liyue, came to see Sheng Yangche with a contract. "Will you enter into a contract with me and jointly protect the land of Liyue?"
Sheng Yangche: "No problem, no problem. You can have my territory and people. I only want to retire to the background, focus on researching the five senses, and find a chance to run away."
And so, Shalges, the Archon of the Seven Senses, successfully joined the Geo Archon's faction, beginning a research life that ended before it even began.
