The City God Writes Tales in the World of Strange Tales

Shen Huaixian transmigrated. The good news was that he'd transmigrated into the body of a county magistrate in ancient times, giving him an official post without having to endure years of hard study.

The bad news was that when he arrived, Taohua City was preparing to sacrifice a living person to the River God to ensure good weather and bountiful harvests. Shen Huaixian tried to stop them, only to fall into the river himself...

When he finally managed to swim to shore, he discovered a fist-sized white jade pearl in his pocket. Was this a case of every cloud having a silver lining?

Shen Huaixian began the difficult journey home. Before long, he realized this world wasn't quite ordinary. The little fox was unusually affectionate and even hunted food for him.

It would also ask him on the night of a full moon, "Do you think I look human?"

"...What?" Was this really normal?

The proprietress of a teahouse by the road reeked of decay. Worried he might be cold, she considerately sat on his lap, apparently planning to suffocate him with her bad breath. "My lord, are you cold? Let me warm your hands."

In a ruined temple, lifelike murals covered the walls, and the beauties in them beckoned to him. "Come here, come on."

Shen Huaixian had thought he was an ordinary person who'd stumbled into a world of strange tales. Then he suddenly discovered that he had nine tails and had become the ancestor of all foxes.

His identity had suddenly become rather complicated.

The world of strange tales was full of tricks. Shen Huaixian picked up his pen, deciding he'd be better off writing stories. The foxes' love and hate made perfect material.

Before long, Shen Huaixian was writing and drawing, opening restaurants, bathhouses, cinemas, and amusement parks, until all the monsters in the world of strange tales had become wage workers.

The female monsters became so absorbed in having fun that they no longer had time to obsess over romance.
