Congratulations on the Breakup

A year ago, Sun Jia thought that dating the campus heartthrob during the final month of college was the happiest moment of her life.

A year later, she wished she had a time machine so she could go back and slap her younger self for being so blind.

Sun Jia had had a crush on a scumbag for two years and dated him in secret for one.

She did his laundry and cooked for him, revised storyboards and added screen tones, and even ghostwrote plots for him.

Only much later did she realize that the scumbag was into men.

Sun Jia went through the motions of the matchmaking dates her family arranged.

Her match: Yan Yu, thirty years old, a university professor. Looks: 100 points. Temperament: 98 points. Dedicated to his career. His parents are highly educated, and he has no awful relatives like the assorted aunts and uncles. He has no germophobia or allergies, and is perfectly happy with her two Ragdolls and one British Shorthair Longhair.

Yan Yu married Sun Jia because she was confident, optimistic, and loved life. She wouldn't call to check up on him when he was working late on something important.

They decided to give it a try: if it worked, they'd stay together; if not, they'd split.

The scumbag's career hit rock bottom without Sun Jia, and he came looking for her in a torrential downpour.

Wearing a white shirt rumpled like preserved greens, Yan Yu stood at the door, a vivid lipstick mark on his collar. "My wife is asleep. What do you want?"

The scumbag, drenched to the skin, left in disgrace.
