Blurb:
The craziest regent in Shengjing picked up the dumbest little beggar.
He killed, and she offered him candy. He set fires, and she clung to his leg, crying, "Don't burn the little plants!"
The ministers trembled in fear, afraid that one day the tyrant might burn down the whole realm in a bad mood. But no one could have imagined that...
The ruthless king of hell, a man with a fastidious nature, would kneel on one knee in the snow and gently cradle a filthy little beggar in his arms...
[Little Moment 1]
At dusk, red lanterns hung from the eaves of the prince's residence. Luo Yaoyao held half a candied hawthorn skewer and hurried toward the study on tiptoe.
"Big Brother!" she called, drawing out the last syllable in a soft, sweet voice.
The man at his desk was reviewing memorials. At the sound of her voice, he looked up, and his murderous aura instantly melted into spring water.
"Slow down."
"There's only one candied hawthorn left. It's for you!"
She raised her little hand high. Snow clung to the sugar coating, making it sparkle.
Mo Xuanjin bent down. He didn't take the candy, but first took her fingertips in his hand and warmed them in his palm.
"Your hands are so cold, and you're still running around."
His tone was gruff, but his movements were so gentle, as if he were afraid of shattering snow. Luo Yaoyao blinked and popped the last candy into his mouth.
"Is it sweet?"
The man chuckled softly, his voice hoarse. "Sweet."
Outside the window, snow fell silently. Inside, the lamplight glowed warm and golden.
She leaned against his knee and quietly counted the stars on the candy wrappers. By the third one, she had started snoring softly. Mo Xuanjin pulled her cloak snug and casually closed the memorials.
[Little Moment 2]
Early morning in the prince's residence garden. Silverblade lay on the stone steps, lazily sweeping fallen leaves with its tail. Luo Yaoyao squatted in front of it, holding a small bowl.
"Drink the bone broth Yaoyao made, and you'll grow big and strong!"
The wolf king turned its head in disdain, but lowered it a moment later and drank it all in one gulp.
When it finished, it licked her palm and rubbed its fluffy ears against her cheek.
Crow Mo Yu landed on the wolf's back and cawed twice. "Silly wolf, pretending to be cool again."
Silverblade flicked its tail and knocked the crow over.
Luo Yaoyao laughed until she doubled over, flower petals falling into her hair.
The wolf's tail swept over to brush the petals away, as tenderly as if it were protecting a cub.
