Fighting Hard in the 1950s American West

In 1951, Gu Yi received word from her husband and immediately packed her things, taking her five-year-old son across a thousand miles to the west.

On the way, Gu Yi kept thinking that she and her son were going to live a better life.

The closer they got to their destination, the more her heart sank. When they arrived, Gu Yi fainted on the spot.

Five-year-old Zhang Hongguang was seeing his father for the first time. He gazed at him with admiration and gave him a crisp, proper salute!

Zhang Xianfeng cheerfully led his wife and son down into their dugout. Seeing his wife's unhappy expression, he immediately painted her a rosy picture: "It may look like there's nothing here now, but one day this place will become a big city!"

Gu Yi was so angry she didn't want to speak.

Zhang Hongguang raised his hand and said with determination, "Mom, we have to believe Dad!"

Zhang Xianfeng: "That's my boy!"
