After Being Forced to Become a Corrupt Official

After transmigrating, Shen Xia was bound to a Corrupt Official System and had to embezzle money to stay alive.

Born into a merchant family, he had no path to the imperial examinations, so Shen Xia could only beg his older brother to pay for him to buy an unofficial appointment.

Shen Sheng soon regretted letting his younger brother become an official.

At first, Shen Xia brought home a few dozen taels of silver, and Shen Sheng thought nothing of it.

Then Shen Xia brought home a few hundred taels, and Shen Sheng began to pay attention.

After that, Shen Xia brought home a few thousand taels, and Shen Sheng began to suspect something was wrong!

Then Shen Xia brought home tens of thousands of taels, and Shen Sheng could no longer stay calm!

Later, Shen Xia came home empty-handed. Shen Sheng breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Xia, you've finally decided to stop!"

Shen Xia smiled and told him, "Big Brother, I hid a hundred thousand taels of silver in the mountains. Could you send someone to bring it home?"

Shen Sheng: You didn't embezzle all the disaster relief money this time, did you?

Shen Xia: That's right!

Shen Sheng: We're finished!

Official A: Shen Xia is such a greedy bastard! He pocketed a hundred thousand taels all by himself! He didn't leave us a single coin!

Official B: Damn him! We have to kill him!

Official C: I've hired another batch of assassins. This time, they're sure to finish him off!

After serving as a corrupt official for so many years, one day Shen Xia suddenly told the emperor, "Your Majesty, I don't want to be a corrupt official anymore."

The emperor replied, "Who's bullying you, my dear Shen? Tell me, and I'll deal with them for you!"

Everyone in the world said Shen Xia was the most corrupt official alive, bearing the infamy of the realm and betrayed by his fellow officials. Only the emperor and Shen Sheng knew that Shen Xia was, in truth, utterly loyal to his country!

It was only after Shen Xia died for his country that his achievements were made public. When the people learned that he had served only the public good, the whole realm was shocked! The people mourned! The officials were filled with shame!
