First Bloom

After her family fell on hard times, Ren Yunchu was forced to find a new guardian for her six-year-old little cousin.

The guardian, Lin Zhan, was cold, arrogant, and mean.

"How did your family raise this child? She even eats poop."

Ren Yunchu put up with it.

"A beggar can't save food overnight. She just had to eat it all that very night."

Ren Yunchu put up with that, too.

Then he threw away the quilt she had bought, calling it a piece of junk.

That was the last straw for Ren Yunchu.

Lin Zhan had everything he could want, except someone to slap him hard across the face.

Lin Zhan was forced to become the guardian of a little girl. The child was greedy, playful, and loved talking back!

When he threw away the quilt she had smeared with boogers, it sparked a disaster.

The elegant, ethereal older sister, who had always sat high above the clouds, finally came down to slay this wicked dragon.

"Just because your quilt doesn't have a hole, does that mean no one else's is allowed to?"

Lin Zhan curled his lips and scoffed. "If you don't share my bed, how would you know my quilt doesn't have a hole?"

His words came true. Years later, Lin Zhan discovered that his own bed had a hole in it, just like the one in his heart.

The last tough guy in town finally went weak at the knees. He pretended to be ill, hoping she'd take him home.

Ren Yunchu was as cool and aloof as frost. She said, "At home, I only save plants. I don't treat living people."

"I'm not alive."

"Are you a five-step snake hibernating?"

His voice turned hoarse, and he resigned himself to his fate. "Why be afraid of a five-step snake? Within five steps, you'll have the antidote."
