After the Gods Entered the Infinite World

Jing is a god, and the last of his kind.

A god appears in a small world only once every ten thousand years. Unfortunately, Shen Jing came along too late. He just happened to arrive after the founding of the nation, when no one was allowed to become a spirit. As a result, he could not even break out of his eggshell, and spent a hundred years trapped inside it in a scientific age utterly devoid of the power of faith.

It took humanity only a hundred short years to move from the scientific age into the interstellar age. Technology advanced by leaps and bounds during that century, and the branches of the technological tree became laden with all kinds of high-tech products. Yet Shen Jing still had to stay inside that tiny eggshell.

He had thought about breaking out before, but he could never find a source of faith. Then, one day, he sensed an evil power.

Following the principle that he might as well eat what was there, since it was better than starving to death, he began absorbing that evil power.

At first, everything went smoothly.

Shen Jing had thought this evil power would have no effect on him. He did not realize that the more he absorbed, the stronger it became. In the end, he could no longer control it and could only watch helplessly as it devoured his body.

Fortunately, he was a god, and a god's soul could never be destroyed. Though evil power corroded his body, he did not die. Instead, he came to possess both divinity and an evil nature. In the terminology of the modern age, that was called a split personality, though more people liked to call him "neurotic."

Shen Jing rather liked the name humanity had given him.

Like Shen Jing, the demons of the Abyss had also been hungry for hundreds of years. After humanity entered the interstellar age, people's emotions grew weaker and weaker. Without emotions to sustain them, the creatures of the Abyss could no longer survive, and in the end they could only turn to dust and vanish from the world.

They were unwilling to accept it. They were violent. They crawled out of the Abyss, and their evil power gradually corrupted the world. They dragged the humans on the surface into a terrifying carnival.

They made them struggle on the brink of death, drawing emotions from their fear...

Those intense emotions became food for the demons.

The more food they got, the stronger they became.

But just as the demons were lost in their revelry and growing ever more reckless, they ran into two opponents they could not handle.

One radiated a hunger for food so ravenous that even demons feared it.

The other was an emotionless, nonhuman general, the demons' natural enemy.

Shen Jing, the split-personality god, stared at the demons with hungry eyes one moment. "They smell so good. They look delicious..."

The demons trembled in terror. "..."

The next moment, he threw himself into a certain general's arms, teary-eyed and pitiful. "Brother, save me! They look so scary..."

The only intelligent AI in the Interstellar Empire with human consciousness, a nonhuman general: "..."

[Reader's Guide:]

CP: The protagonist is a powerful evil god whose main personality is a delicate, scheming, dramatic beauty, while his other personality dominates the scene. The love interest is an impartial, iron-faced general, an intelligent AI with human consciousness but no human emotions.

P.S. This is not a traditional infinite-flow novel. Romance comes first, with the plot in a supporting role. It has a little post-apocalyptic wasteland, mythology, and technology, all based on the author's own worldbuilding! The plot leans toward romance, adventure, and clearing challenges. There are some puzzles, but not many.
