The Substitute White Moonlight of the Boss Dazai

▼Novel Blurb▼ You are the port Mafia boss's stand-in for his beloved. You know perfectly well that he doesn't love you. You're nothing but a cheap imitation of the woman he loves, yet you still follow the script and pretend to have fallen for the young boss, whose expression is always indifferent and weary of the world, as though he might vanish into the darkness at any moment. You don't know why your boss is willing to pay so much to keep a useless nobody like you around, but you're an overworked corporate drone, so you don't dare say anything or ask any questions. After all, he's paying you a fortune. Then, suddenly, the woman presumed dead, the boss's beloved, returns to Yokohama. Watching the boss and his beloved wrapped up in each other, you figure that once you collect this month's pay, it's time to grab your things and run. You never expected the boss to come looking for you and hand you a demanding work assignment. You stare at the ten-page list of vicious villainess behavior and gasp in shock. Hold on, boss. Does your beloved know you're doing this? But before you can finish complaining, you notice that your boss, who usually grips your waist and speaks to you with red-rimmed eyes, is looking at you as if he's been wronged. He even lowers his amber-colored almond eyes dejectedly. "You won't even do this little thing for me?" Your boss looks delicate and speaks with such innocent sincerity. With that breathtakingly beautiful face, you almost succumb to his occasional out-of-character moments. Luckily, you haven't forgotten why you're here. So you look at your boss and smile shyly. "Sure." "But it'll cost extra." * Fourteen years ago, Dazai woke up to find that his [Book] had turned pink, and that the future written inside had become very strange. According to the [Book], a little girl who was going to be adopted would arrive at the neighbors' house that very day. And in the future, he would fall in love with her, live and die for her, bang his head against a wall for her, and then give her up for Oda Sakunosuke, turning her into a beloved who would remain forever in his heart. This was bizarre. How could that possibly happen? Dazai put the book away and paid no attention to the matter. A day later, Dazai watched helplessly as his body acted out a melodramatic romance plot against his will. "...What the hell!" *Notes: 1. This is an unconventional stand-in-for-the-beloved story, and things will probably get pretty absurd. 2. It's about an ordinary person trying to survive in Yokohama. 3. The main story is told from your perspective. 4. It has a secret-group vibe. The heroine is not the beloved herself, and Boss Dazai isn't actually out of character. Theme: Stay true to yourself and remain kind.
