Back to the Years When My Dad Ran a Coffin Shop [Period Piece + Metaphysics]

[Modern alternate universe, set sometime around 1990 to 2000, not too far in the past. The timeline may be adjusted slightly before the story starts.]

When Jiang Mingwei was eight, she became an orphan and was taken in by her master, who had come down from the mountains to travel. She had astonishing talent, and after only ten years of cultivation, she became the leading expert of the mystic arts. With just herself and her sword, she could drive away ghosts and spirits wherever she went.

Then, in an accident, a tribulation lightning bolt sent her twenty years into the past, where she met her biological father, Jiang Yuan, who was only eighteen at the time.

The Jiang Yuan in her memories: silent and gloomy, spending every day either drinking or dead drunk.

The eighteen-year-old Jiang Yuan: a carefree, shameless chatterbox who ran the coffin shop passed down through his family. He couldn't do a thing, but still put on the airs of an enlightened master. His daily routine was to hawk discounted coffins to the neighbors.

Jiang Mingwei stood staring outside the coffin shop until Jiang Yuan spotted her, his eyes lighting up. "Miss, want to buy a coffin? I'll give you half off!"

Jiang Mingwei: "...Dad."

Jiang Yuan: !!!

Jiang Mingwei dragged Jiang Yuan around to take on jobs, and the Jiang family's coffin shop grew more and more famous. Everyone thought Jiang Mingwei was a young disciple Jiang Yuan had taken in. Only Jiang Yuan knew he was nothing but bait, while his daughter was the real master.

Jiang Mingwei was curious how her dad, with his personality, had managed to win her mom over, and why the two of them had separated.

Then one day, she saw Sister Ming Fei, a frequent visitor to the coffin shop, and a glimpse of something beneath her skirt... a fox's tail?

One day, Jiang Mingwei came home to find Jiang Yuan excitedly introducing a young man. "Weiwei, this is my buddy. Hurry up and call him Uncle Ji!"

The newcomer looked up, revealing a cool, handsome face.

Jiang Mingwei froze. "M-Master?"
