Yuan Xiao failed her tribulation and got bound to a stepson-raising System. Her mission was to turn her step-sons into all kinds of overpowered protagonists in exchange for a chance to be reborn.
The System's assigned role for Yuan Xiao was a wasteful troublemaker: a wicked stepmother who made her step-sons' already tragic lives even worse, sped up their descent into darkness, and was eventually brought to justice.
But when Yuan Xiao looked at the poor little boys who didn't even reach her waist, she couldn't help giving herself a new role.
·
In a showbiz System novel, she was a nobody of an actress who snatched a wealthy stepson's entertainment company and the family fortune that should have belonged to him but had been swallowed up by his relatives. Her stepson was so anxious his eyes turned red. "Who told you to do this? Look at how badly they dragged your name through the mud!"
Yuan Xiao, blackened like a lump of coal: "Don't worry. When your stepmother dies, it'll all be yours."
Stepson: Was that what I meant?!
·
In a transmigration political-intrigue novel, she was the empress dowager, ruling from behind the scenes. She kicked out the powerful ministers and aristocratic clans, then tore up the enemy nation that had been watching them like a hungry tiger. The young emperor who had transmigrated there clutched his writing brush and trembled. "I... I only want to be a good son to the empress dowager. If you want to ascend the throne or anything, I... I agree with all of it!"
Yuan Xiao, just about to leave the court: "My boy, I won this realm for you. You have to take good care of them."
The young emperor thought the empress dowager was testing him and feared that one wrong move would get him killed. "I, I think being a mama's boy, I mean, a puppet, sounds pretty good!"
There were also good-for-nothing cultivation novels, supernatural rebirth novels, and more. Yuan Xiao seized family fortunes! Seized power! Seized opportunities! Seized luck! And, while she was at it, took over the responsibilities her step-sons were supposed to bear.
System: I told you to raise overpowered protagonists, not become one yourself!
Yuan Xiao objected: "Shouldn't you call them Phoenix Queens? Besides, aren't the children of overpowered protagonists overpowered, too?"
Her step-sons: "Mom is right!"
System: ...Where's your ambition?!
