Song Wanyao discovers that after the heir of the Duke of Dingguo, Shen Mian, goes blind, he seems to mistake her for his new bride.
Her parents have been exiled, and her younger brother has been arrested and taken to the Northern Garrison Bureau. With no one to rely on and a beautiful face that attracts the attention and threats of many, she lives in constant fear. While fleeing for her life, she comes across the severely wounded Shen Mian.
Shen Mian is in charge of the Northern Garrison Bureau. Cold-blooded and suspicious, he would never let her get away with telling the truth now. He would surely throw her out for trying to use her kindness to demand repayment, and might even arrest and interrogate her.
Song Wanyao has no choice but to nervously pretend to be his wife while looking for a chance to escape.
After a full two months, she finally uses her false identity to rescue her younger brother, then seizes an opportunity to fake her death and flee.

After Shen Mian receives the new bride his family arranged for him, he is ambushed by his enemies. When he wakes, he is poisoned and blind, and there seems to be a woman's voice beside him.
Following the sound, Shen Mian turns his head. "You..."
The woman calls to him softly and sweetly. "My lord."
At least she knows her place and understands boundaries.
Shen Mian dislikes this marriage. He plans to wait until his eyesight recovers, then return to the residence and explain things to his parents.
But this little wife of his seems unable to see how cold he is. She diligently sews clothes for him to wear, and when she sees his wounds, she is so distressed that she sheds tears...
She trusts only him and depends on him, wishing she could cling to him every moment and hide in his arms.
-
Everyone in the capital knows that Shen Mian keeps his distance from women, and they say he had little affection for his previous wife, either.
Until one day, he suddenly turns to stare at the young lady of the Song family, laughing and chatting merrily with another man among the flowers.
Everyone sees the usually noble and stern heir of the Duke of Dingguo give a cold laugh, then order his subordinates to surround the entire mountain.
[Note]
1. Both leads are inexperienced; one-on-one pairing; happy ending. The original wife was arranged by the family. The male lead wasn't involved and had never met her.
