The Supporting Character Steals the Show in the 1970s

Chen Anning discovers that she is living in a novel set in a bygone era, where she is the inconspicuous younger sister in a family of awful side characters.

Her eldest sister marries a male sent-down youth, only to be abandoned. The shock leaves her mentally unstable, and her two children become minor villains.

Her second sister is ambitious and competitive, and she envies the heroine. She's constantly made to look bad by comparison.

Her eldest brother is dim-witted but always dreaming of doing great things. He gets cheated and framed, and ends up in prison.

Her second brother relies on his good looks and flirts everywhere. He gets caught up in a crackdown and is executed by firing squad.

As for Chen Anning herself, she's cheated on three times and has her engagement broken off. Her whole family goes to make a scene, earning the enmity of all three families. She's framed and meets a tragic end.

Chen Anning: What a miserable transmigration. I guess Heaven wants to test my wits.

After transmigrating, she does a few things:

She persuades her eldest sister to break things off with that sent-down youth.

She teaches her eldest brother to be content and take care of his family, and her second brother to behave himself.

She takes her studious second sister and beauty-conscious second brother to study hard and get into university. Then they go into business and make a fortune.

As for the male and female leads next door, sorry, her own stage is so vast that she hasn't noticed the other side characters.
