The bureau forms a special investigation team to get to the bottom of it. Under pressure from their superiors, Captain Ji is forced to partner with Miss Gu to solve the case.
Gu Shinian can't stand Ji Nanxing's obsessive-compulsive neat freak tendencies, while Captain Ji can't abide by Gu's unconventional methods. The two can't see eye to eye and argue at the slightest provocation, while the whole team ships them.
Despite their negative teamwork score, the two piece together the truth to clear the dead of suspicion. Seven murders, seven deadly sins, and an unexpected connection to an unsolved case from twenty years ago. They also uncover the painful childhoods they would rather have left buried.

As the two investigate the murders together, Gu Shinian puts on a new act every day.
