The Frail Scholar's Bridegroom

After dying suddenly, Shi Hong transmigrated into the body of a frail scholar who was bedridden and on the verge of death, becoming the man his family had brought home as a wedding good-luck groom.

The scholar's family was dirt-poor, with nothing to their name. The only two strings of copper coins in the house had been spent by his elderly mother to buy a groom for her son, hoping the marriage would bring him good fortune.

Just after the scholar lifted Shi Hong's bridal veil, his mother passed away. Shi Hong once again became the jinx everyone nearby talked about.

Holding a bowl of medicine and watching his frail scholar husband kneel silently before his mother's grave, Shi Hong waited for the other man to end their engagement so he could live freely. Instead, the scholar quietly led Shi Hong home.
