Hagiwara-kun's Future Diary Could Never Have a Bad Ending

A rough blurb I wrote on a whim. Maybe I’ll revise it when I remember and have time. On the first day of police academy, Hagiwara Kenji found a notebook on his dorm-room desk. At first, he thought someone had left an old notebook behind and forgotten to throw it away. But when he opened the first page, the words caught his attention. This plain-looking black notebook had his own name in it, and more words kept appearing as he moved. [Hagiwara Kenji finally opened the diary. Confused and astonished by what was happening before him, he was about to keep reading when a knock sounded at the door.] The exact knock described in the book sounded at that very moment. Hagiwara Kenji couldn’t tell if it was just a coincidence. [Hagiwara Kenji heard the knock and opened the door to find Matsuda Jinpei standing there.] Reading as he opened the door, he found Matsuda Jinpei standing outside, just as the notebook said. Seeing him frown as he looked through the notebook, Matsuda asked curiously, “Hagi, what are you reading?” [At last, Matsuda Jinpei saw Hagiwara Kenji open the door. Having finally worked up the courage, he gazed at him tenderly...] “Snap!” Hagiwara Kenji was utterly stunned and couldn’t make sense of it! “?” Matsuda Jinpei watched Hagiwara Kenji snap the notebook shut as soon as he spoke. The strange look in Hagiwara’s eyes left him baffled. “What’s wrong?” Matsuda Jinpei frowned, and under Hagiwara’s bewildered stare, he gradually began to look impatient. Seeing that, Hagiwara Kenji felt relieved. “It’s nothing, really.” As he spoke, he opened the notebook again and glanced at the next lines. [Having finally worked up the courage, he gazed tenderly at Hagiwara Kenji and spoke the words he had kept in his heart for years: “Please go out with me!”...] “Snap!” Hagiwara Kenji shut the notebook again, filled with a strange sense of anticipation and conflicted feelings, then looked at Matsuda Jinpei standing in front of him. Seeing Hagiwara’s expression grow serious, as though he were waiting for him to say something, Matsuda Jinpei looked at him with a tender gaze (×), the gaze one gives an idiot (√), utterly confused. “...Are you okay?” 1. The diary may, possibly, perhaps be the creation of a fujoshi. 2. It could also be called How Do I Get the Real World to Matchmake the Fictional Them? 3. Is it possible they’d get together even without matchmaking? 4. An absurd idea that came to me on a whim. A rough blurb written in ten minutes. 5. The future will be changed. No bad endings. Extra-sweet, no angst allowed. 6. But angst is actually delicious (what Theme: Can one person change the ending?
