[Yue Fei/Modern AU] Chronicles of the Ashes

This is a story told from a first-person perspective.

In the final days of his life, an old man on the verge of death looks back on a past he has rarely told anyone about. He remembers the people he met during his brief year and a half as an undergraduate: people who once lived vividly in this world and could be called heaven's favored.

A modern campus setting, or rather, these historical figures reimagined as modern scientists and engineers. The main characters are still the familiar figures from the early Southern Song. Most of them spend their time on the campus of S University, working in different roles and doing different jobs. But the plot cannot possibly be confined to campus alone, and the story also has a fully developed framework.

I should make it clear that the country of S and S University are entirely fictional. The majors, industries, research, and state of scientific development mentioned in the story have no real-world significance or connection to reality. They are simply fields I know a little about, and anyone who actually works in one of them would certainly laugh at my ignorance.

Theme: The story's development is designed to follow the course of history as closely as possible.
