I Really Just Want to Be a Fainthearted Emperor

(Every day, I’m waiting for someone to overthrow me.)

(I wanted to be a tyrant, but unexpectedly became the greatest emperor in history.)

Yan Ruoling gets a Tyrant System. Its instructions are simple: go indulge in extravagance in another world and try to become the greatest tyrant in history!

Ruoling says, “This is right up my alley. I just need to spend money like crazy, listen to treacherous ministers, and waste the people’s lives and resources, right?”

She thinks of how Emperor Yang was cruel and built a canal, leaving the people full of grievances.

But when she orders people to build a canal, it directly boosts the entire country’s economy.

She tries building the Great Wall and spending a fortune on huge ships to sail across the western seas. As a result, tales of the Ling Kingdom spread as far away as the shores of the You Sea.

She insists on listening to the eunuchs and repeatedly attacks other countries, hoping to demoralize her soldiers. Instead, the troops grow more and more fired up, conquering every nearby territory.

The ministers all look at her as if they are witnessing the Purple Star Divine Emperor’s arrival. Everyone praises her as the greatest emperor in history.

Ruoling: Ugh! I really am just a salted fish tyrant who wants to lie flat!

Later, her secret as a woman dressed as a man is exposed. Ruoling thinks these people will finally rise up against her, right? Instead, countless ministers and commoners weep, believing the emperor hid her gender for their sake and suffered greatly.

Her capable prime ministers, great generals, grand marshals, and even the Imperial Preceptor all wear strange smiles and volunteer to share her bed.

Can’t they just let her be a tyrant in peace?

Theme: A salted fish turns her life around.
