Shen Li looked so much like the legitimate daughter who had gone missing from the Chengning Marquis household that she was brought in as a substitute when she was young.
She knew her parents and brothers were only good to her because she was a way for them to make up for their guilt toward the real daughter.
When she was seventeen, the Chengning Marquis household found the daughter who had been missing for over a decade. Shen Li sensibly packed her belongings and left Yujing.
But she hadn't gotten far when someone knocked her unconscious with a club. When she woke up again, she had become a fluffy little cat.
She was curled up on someone else's soft couch, staring into the eyes of the cold and ruthless Crown Prince.
Shen Li: ...
Everyone knew the Crown Prince was cold and distant, and cared for no one, not even his own family. If she fell into his hands, she was sure to meet a grisly end.
Shen Li stared at the Crown Prince for a long moment. He was certainly handsome, but with that cold, heartless look, he seemed like the sort of villain who'd kick a kitten as he walked by!
Shen Li trembled and meowed, begging the Crown Prince to spare her life.
The Crown Prince sighed and pressed his fingers to his brow. Then, with a gentle touch, he scooped her into his arms and took a deep sniff of her fur, speaking in a falsetto: "What a cute little meow."
Shen Li blushed bright red after the Crown Prince sniffed her: ovo

The Chengning Marquis household had found their real daughter, but they never intended to mistreat their adopted daughter. They treated her as if she were their own.
But after an accident, Shen Li woke from a deep sleep, and everyone in the household noticed she had started acting strangely.
Sometimes she'd suddenly hurry off, and sometimes she'd suddenly hide, making one flimsy excuse after another.
Then the family secretly saw Shen Li turn into a cat.
The entire Chengning Marquis household: ...
Next, they saw the cat version of Shen Li in the Crown Prince's arms. Perhaps she hadn't been sleeping comfortably, because she stretched out a paw and slapped his handsome face.
The entire Chengning Marquis household broke out in a cold sweat:!!!

At a palace banquet, the Crown Prince was surrounded by people making small talk, his face as cold as ice and his manner keeping everyone at arm's length.
The Shen family's real daughter couldn't help remarking, "The Crown Prince is so cold."
Shen Li chuckled around a bite of fruit. "He's just pretending. He's really afraid of talking to people."
Every time he finished a conversation with someone, he'd mess up her fur with all that sniffing. Honestly.
The real daughter paused, then smiled faintly. "That's so sweet~"
For some reason, Shen Li's seat had been arranged beside the Crown Prince. She was used to it and focused on eating.
But there were so many dishes she didn't like.
Shen Li glanced sideways at the Crown Prince's bowl and chopsticks, then secretly dropped the things she didn't like into his bowl. She always did this, so it should be fine, right?
The ministers and their families who witnessed this were dumbfounded.
The Chengning Marquis household, who knew what was going on: We told you Shen Li and the Crown Prince were so sweet together!!!
The Crown Prince picked up his chopsticks, thinking calmly: So this is the cat in his house that has gained human form. He wasn't sure, so he'd have to sniff her a few more times later.
